It's tax return time and since its a good year, looks like i'll be getting a new stereo. Now i have the advantage that i work for Opposite Lock, sure you think how does 4wd accessories help you out..... our uniden supplier also distributes Schneider audio equipment, aeropro and a few other things and i can also get AXIS electronics stuff. so quite a few things i can get cheap. Now on to the questions:

i have only had the chance to listen to the more common bands (Alpine, pioneer, etc), but i'm flying to brisbane for a couple of days this weekend. what brands should i try to hear and where in brisbane stocks them? (probably a bit hard for you southern guys but if you give me brands i''l try find stockists)

The Car
2003 TJ Exec Sedan

What i have already
pair Focal 165A splits (picked up cheap with my brothers system but they wont fit in his car)
Q: Are the factory tweeter pods (i'll have to buy some) the best/easiest way to mount the tweeters?

What I need

HU - Previously had an Alpine deck and loved it, easy to use and nice looking hence going back that way. Was looking at the Alpine CDA-9855 ($1099) and CDA-9853 ($899). Only real differences i can see between the 2 is the 9855 has 4V pre-outs and the biolite display. i much prefer the biolite display, but i can do without.
Q: Is the 4V preouts worth the extra $200?

Rear Fill - Since i'm going to have sub/s i was leaning away from 6x9's. I was thinking mounting another set of splits/coaxials in the back would be tricky (i want to keep the factory grills). is it as simple as cutting some MDF plates to fill the 6x9 spot and mounting the 6.5's in that plate or will it not fit. Again was looking Alpine. SPR-17LP 6.5" co-axials ($249).
Q: Is mounting 6.5" in the rear a fairly easy job?
Q: What other speakers around that price do you recommend?

Speaker Amp - the focals are 60WRMS and the Alpine's are 55WRMS. I was looking at the Schneider SPA-9704A (4x65WRMS @ 4ohm, rrp$323 my price$285) or the Jaycar AA-0426 (4x130WRMS @ 4ohm, $300)
Q: Other amps of similar spec and price?
Q: Reasons why you pick 1 over the other?

Sub Amp - From my other thread, looks like i'm set on a Schneider SPA-6000X (1350WRMS @ 1ohm rrp$775 my price$550).

Sub/s - This is where i'm really lost. I know i want 12"s. but like i've said up top, i've only heard Alpine, pioneer and such. I was budgeting $700-$800. have been looking at:
2x Alpine Type-R ($800)
1x Alpine Type-X ($700)
1x DD3512 ($800)
Q: others to look at?
Q: which would be loudest?
Q: which would be best quality (both build and sound wise)?
Q: which is more servicable? (I don't think Alpine make reconing kits)

Wiring - When i put this all in, i'll be putting in a volt meter. If i go with the SPA-6000X and the Jaycar speaker amp....
Q: Will 4AWG be enough or should i go 0AWG?
Q: 8AWG to the sub/s?
Q: Capacitor?
Q: would a Tanking circuit/Dual battery system (another 4wd accessory bonus :P) be advantageous or just a better main battery?
Q: In relation to above, what type/size battery
Q: Would the factory speaker wiring be sufficient?

I think thats all the q's for now.

Cheers guys

Tim
