Dics were machined and pads replaced few thousand ks ago, but front right still squeels every so often.

Is it okai to use some sandpaper to just give it a quick once over? wat grit should i use? or should i not do it at all? thanks.

Sand paper on metal discs.... Hmm... I think you might do a little damage to your hands or the sandpaper rubbing them lol

Sorry... Yeah, sandpaper is fine. You'll burn your hand before you do any damage to the disc. I quite frequently do it to get rid of squeals... Just enought to put some grooves in the disc.

Emery Paper is what you need.

Had the mechanic known what he was doing he would have fitted the proper pads correctly in the first place

Remove the pads being careful you know which one is which, wash the rotor with clean water, same with pads.

When dry, use some anti squeal on the back of the pads and some graphite grease where the pad backing plate contacts the caliper bracket.

.
Are you saying that pads could be misfited so they squeak?

I think what he's referring to would be to grind them a little on some rough concrete so that they don't have a flat, smooth surface for dust and fumes and crap to get trapped in.

A lot of mechanics simply toss them in and drive off.

A slot cut across the pad can help a heap but proper fitting in the first instance can also help avoid this

They could be cheap pads.. cheap pads tend to squeal a bit.. Id say what is happening is that ur pads have glaced up.. Have you giving them a hard time lately..??

Easiest fix for now is for you to take the pads out and rum them on the cement ground to get the shinny surface off them.. then put them back.. :D

if that dont fix i dont know unless you see..

yeah its just the squeaking i want to get rid off.

So its the pads i want to roughen up, not the discs?

I was thinking using the sandpaper on the disc to roughen up, but ill roughen up the pads first and see how it goes, cheers.
