Hey guys/girls, im fairly new to this site and have a question??

but first i currentlly own a TH magna AlteraLS which i love but am using it for work alot n basically i am after another car that i can have as a run about to keep the k's down.

The car i have now i am thinking of putting some advertising on it for ( advertising my self )and dont want to be driving around with that on 24/7 ( privacy issues )

Basically i am considering getting another magan even though having 3 magnas in the drive way may seem to look abit obsessive ( mother has a TF ) reliability wise would i be better off getting the V6 or the 4?? and are there any common problems that i should be looking out for???? also when did the TR start n end??
Thanks very muchness :)

if you're looking at buying a TR, i have heard that the 4cyl fuel economy is outrageous, in such a fact that it uses more than the V6.. i'd personally be looking at the V6 TS, or if you're worried about fuel economy, go a lancer

but i think the TR went from 91 or 92 til about 94?? someone on here would know for sure though..

the fuel comment if false a few 93 tr's had some major fuel issues but most are around 9-10litre town driving with 7-8 highway driving

Hey thanks yea im not really too worried about fuel economy but wouldn't be supprised if the V6 are better on fuel, the reason iv asked is that iv seen a few magnas out my way that blow smoke poor car. . . . :( i think its been the 4cly exec's but not to sure, also im used to having my creature comf's what spec level would i be looking at if i wanted A/C P/s n prob elect mirros n windows???

well if you want power windows you would have to look for either a TR/TS Magna SE or a Verada Ei or Xi as they are the only ones (99% sure) that had power windows...

but a customer at work the other day, completley out of the blue, pointed out that power windows are no good because if you happen to drive into a dam/lake, they wont work.. now seeing as though i work at a bakery, i dont see how this was relevant, but it makes sense.. having said that, id still rather my power windows (lazy lol) and certainly dont plan on driving into a dam or lake

ha ha yea its stupid but iv often thought the same about mine, but then again i really don't think im about to drive my car of a brige into the river or anything like that in a hurry :) i love my electrics mainly cos i live to drive with my windows open on a summers nite ;) cool thanks for the info. also what sort of pricing should i look out for, for say a 94 model??

Power everything comes standard in the lowest model exec, except for windows (though some late model runouts had it).
TR start 91, finished late 93 possible early 94, Ts - 94 til 96.
Personally i'd go the V6, not alot of difference in fuel economy but you get the extra torque through the rev range which helps. Though 4's are heaps cheaper to fix if something goes wrong and if it's blowing smoke, it's a $40 job if you do it yourself, about $150 at a mechanic.

also what kind of budget do you have? coz i htink a good tr/ts example will cost you 3k-4.5k, add a bit more to 5-6k, you can get yourself a reasonalbe te/tf v6 :D

I reckon go the 4cyl, easy and cheap to maintain. My TR hasn't had any issues. Service regularly and they'll keep on goin! (Just clicked over 141,000..YAY)

The V6 is a better option.

I'll tip in my vote for the V6 (and 5spd Manual). The V6's last longer in the KM department too (before needing major work). Mine has done over 300K and still doing okay.

5k will get you a really good condition TR/TS, or an average condition 3rd gens, personally, a good condition TR/TS is sufficient, they're great cars. I had a 4 cylinder, thirsty: yes and no, when driven sensibly I got 620km to tank city driving. Average in town was 400km or so per 55 litres maybe, so its close to equivalent of a V6. At the end of the day it's your decision. If you find a good V6 then go for it. Otherwise 4 cyl has plenty of power.

4cyls in the past have had problems with fuel economy my v6 gets 7L/100 highway driving normally and 10L/100kms mild city, a few mods have helped this... what you want is low km's about 110k km's lol low km's i'd be getting a later model ts, and be very sure of your purchase, alot of these cars have been mistreated

3k will definitely get you a good condition TR V6, I've said it before ...don't pay over 4k for a 2nd gen.

My 4 has nearly 250 on the clock and i know someone who has one with over 300 on the clock, so if looked after right they can go a long long time. But I suppose thats the same with any car.

i recently did a magna engine replacement on my 92 tr exec from the 2.6lefi auto to the same again (first one dies cos of failed timing shaft- still have it in garage) and now this ones making noise, is there sommin wrong with theses engines, this one seems to get horrid kms per tank compared to last one too avg 300-375 kms a tank city driving/semi aggresive, anyway i wanted to know if it wouldhave been possible to change to the v6? or is the engine bay different?
