View Full Version : Air con system
Ok guys since summers about to hit i figure i gotta get my aircon working again. Now on the 4g63 i got the compressor. But what i need to know is how our aircon systems work. Does it run through the standard ecu or does it run off its own wiring system?
Thanks
It runs off it's own system, but the wiring is in the harness.

the compressor will have a few wires to it, one of which will engage a mechanical clutch when given 12v. that needs to be linked to the aircon condenser (aircon radiator part) fan so they both engage when the aircon switch is flicked. then its just a case of connecting up the hose from each unit to the other.
if you have all the parts and only require new hoses and wiring, should be around the 400 dollar mark to drive into a shop and leave it for the day, if you make the hoses yourself it will cost you 80 dollars for gas, perhaps less, then just hose length and hose ends which arnt exactly cheap.
if the compressor has been without refridgerant in it for a while, i might be worth getting the seals and rubbers in it replaced, as they tend to deteriorate... this is from experience
Ahhh thanks for the replys, doesnt sound too hard. I will need a hose for it. can somone maybe provide the wiring diagram or the pin/loom that it runs off.

nope :P
your going to have to rewire it yourself i think. have the aircon switch switch a relay which powers the compressor clutch and condensor fan and that is the electronic side of it. your fan should already be wired up (dash fan)
TP efis DO have -ve trigger for the compressor relay fed from the EFI ECU, +ve is via the ignition, then switch, therm, a feed to BOTH EFI and Trans computers, then pressure switch, then Compressor relay.
