Hey all,

I noticed today I was missing a wheel nut on my back left... upon closer inspection it became obvious that the bolt had broken clean off!

Has anyone else had this happen?
Is it okay to drive around for a while?
How much should I expect to pay for repair?

Thanks ppl!

u probly done it up too tight last time. probly cracked it and the vibration eventually made it come apart. its not a big job, could easily do it yourself. If you dont know how, i cant imagine it costin much more than $30-$40....all they need to do is get the old stud out and put a new one in.

Yeah did that to a 95 Tarago with alloys.

I rotated the tyres, thought I had done the nuts up okay.

Couple of days later my wife says there's a knocking noise. I say, okay, I'll have a look tonight.

Later that day the front left wheel nearly falls off while she's driving it. Sheared off three studs!!!

In the end it works out that I had not got the wheel nuts centred correctly (mag wheel type that go into the holes of the rim - not normal stock bolts). I had spun them on and tightened them up - but later while driving around the rims had shifted and the nuts had become loose.

Pays to give the rim a little jiggle as you tighten them up. (lesson learned).

Oh, and price - I think it was around the $70-$100 for three studs. ???

just go to a wreckers and get a hub. pretty much plug and play. off with wheel, disc then hub. pretty easy.
