Purchased some new gear from eBay, they have now arrived. Went for Audiobahn, quite good quality at very reasonable prices. Great looking gear also
AudioBahn AS62Q 6.5" 'convertible' 2-way Coaxial/Splits:
90WRMS, 50Hz-20kHz, 94dB, polyswitch for tweeters, optional external passive crossover (not supplied but will source), 18oz magnet, polished chrome baskets (very bling), polycone midbass driver, 1" tweet (no idea construction) plus all mounting gear, wiring, screws, stickers etc
$130 delivered (5% paypal surcharge made it $136.50)
AudioBahn A6004T Class A/B MOSFET Amplifier:
75X4RMS @ 4ohm, 2ohm stable, bridgeable, RCA input & output, Variable High pass filter 50-750Hz, Variable Low Pass Filter 50-120Hz, Subsonic Filter 20-50Hz, Bass boost switch, Air induction fan, 2x25A fuses. Polished chrome, very bling, came with extra fuses, stickers galore and a pair of white cotton gloves. Nice.
$300 delivered (combined shipping with speakers, 5% paypal surcharge made it $315)
Gear is US imported, so warranty might be somewhat of a hassle. It is all new however, with correct warranty cards, serial numbers, packaging.
So for $450, I'm pretty happy. He also offered to add 2x12" Audiobahn subs (unsure of model) and make it $700 total. Seller was very good, upfront, awesome amounts of communication. He also stocks Alpine amps & subs plus some other bits and pieces. He is located in Melbourne, possibility of pickup for the Vic guys. If you ask via PM, will give details.
Bought this as I need better front speakers without spending the $600 or so I was going to and the missus forbade me to, and a better amp to power the front speakers plus the 6x9's, mainly due to the XM-444 lacking high pass filters of any sort. Hopefully how I will be able to feed much more power to the front stage, and filter out some of the bass frequencies that I have been running as full range.
Will get some pics tomorrow and post up. If you wanna know now, just check the AudioBahn site.

Under $500 you might avoid the import taxes too...
havent heard the audiobahn splits installed (besides JB hifi walls)
Good stuff

Import taxes no worry. Stuff is posted from Melbourne, although he slugs a high postage cost ($55) to cover his import taxes when he brings them in. Still, looking at the delivered price, still seems cheap.
I bid $75 and was beaten, but were offered them second chance anyway! He's starting out, has stock and is looking to deal. Also doing a 2x150WRMS amp as well ATM.
I have heard them in JB's walls too, although we all know how good they sound!
Amps seem to be on par with Alpine quality, with a tad more power. I've already had the cover off to have a looksie inside

Pics have arrived!

Shot of speaker with grille on. Notice multi-fit mounting ring to make it easier to line up to some popular factory hole setups. Plastic is quite soft and you could get good results with this - the plastic acting as a gasket.

STICKERS!
Will drop the amp in over the weekend, and set HPFs, gain and give it a bit of a tune. Speakers will go in when I can source external crossovers, and mount them in a decent way.

BLING !!!!!
All you need now is a Set of Audiobahn subs in a Bandpass Enclosure and you will have a System that looks as Bling as it sounds...

Yeah, pitty the bling will be hidden in the doors!
I'm not allowed to make any more subs/monoblock purchases until someone else has a half decent system  the missus banned me.
realy looking forward to dumping the amp in on Saturday or Sunday

I wouldn't mind hearing from you what the midbass drivers (without tweeters) sound like... I have the Audiobahn A8002T 800WRMS Monoblock and to be honest i really dont think they are great, just average. Having said that i am on the lookout for a good JL monoblock.
Let me know your verdict.
FWIW - Customs are lifting the duty free threshold to A$1000.00 soon... This is great news for all (no duties, entry fee's etc on Nature 10 clearances (i am an importer at work).

Can't wait for that customs rise, will make things SO much better.
Haven't hooked up the speakers yet, but plan to do so soon. Going to make proper mounts for them in the doors, get rid of that plastic crap. May even buy some of those door pods and graft them into my doors. Always like the mid-basses in a sealed enclosure.
The speakers look very well made, strong baskets, decent weight. The pioneer coaxials in there now, both of them wouldn't weigh as much as one of the mid-basses. Smooth Poly cone, no reinforcing sections in it makes me think the *MAY* sound a bit flappy pushing them under high power, but we will wait and see. For $130, I think they will be better than the Jaycar Splits without any doubt.
The amp has to be much better than the Sony XM-444, lets face it a few extra (cleaner due to headroom) Watts and HPFs should mean I can turn up the wick on the coaxials I already have in it. Will drop the amp in tomorrow and report back.

Okay, finally got the amp in earlier tonight.
First impressions: I'VE GOT GROUND LOOP!
Yes, the dreaded hum was happening, along with a loud, high pitched squeal that I isolated to the rear demister, plus some engine noise to the mix... So, reset all the rcas, much better. Amp has a higher noise floor than the Sony, which makes me a bit disappointed.
However, I turned it up a but, set the gains, got the HPF's where I wanted them.
HOLY HELL IT HAS SOME POWER! Nearly deafened myself. Still only Pioneer coaxials (rated 30WRMS) in the front!! Splits to come soon.
So all in all, the amp is a bit noisy at low volumes, but once you turn it up it has loads of power. Blue lights are very bling also, but its under the passenger seat :doubt:
For $300 I am stoked.

Shorter bigger grounds
Check ground location (sanded back well)
Check RCA routes. (try running them through the centre of the car(through the air) to isolate problem.
Clean up battery ground terminals
Turning down your gain is the easiest way to bring ur noise floor down. (why some guys run 2kw rms front stage)
Pics?
Peace

Isolated the noise to the RCAS (pulled them out, noise stopped).
Will replace them. Were only Autobarn crappy's anyway, nothing quality about them.
Amp ground is fine..... as is battery ground.

Might not be the quality... Try re running them but make sure they dont cross the the power lines at all (near the amp especially)
How many volts out on the headunit?
Make sure they dont run behind the dash (just to test them out) so straight from the back of the headunit avoiding all the wires behind there, to the amps (feed the rcas through the front headrest and into the skiport to make sure.
Peace
Tim
