allso after when i rev it to about 5000rpm the engine gust shit's it's self... it just dosen't wanna drive..

4 or 6cyl?

The V6 will produce peak power at 5500 and redline at about 6000. You wouldn't want to go past that.

The best way to free up the top end in these is to change the exhaust piping to 2.5" mandrel bent and slap on a straight through muffler, the Lukey LR2779 for example.

These mods alone (withouth extractors) free up the top end incredibly! Add extractors to the equation and you now have a car that will rev quite happily to redline and not run out of breath.

IT'S a 4 cyl... i just want a bit more rev's so i can go a bit faster in it...

definitely a muffler change will let the engine rev freer which means it wont "die out" in the top end as it probably does now.

Thats the impression I get with what you're describing.

You wont get 7000rpm without serious cam work, and it's probably not really worth it.

i have a manual 4cyl TR, and hardly ever rev it over 5000rpm, its just not practical, its starts losing power about there, if im goin hard i'll shift just before 5000.
Also while we're on this note, do the astron's have a rev limiter?

My auto 2.6 wont rev above 4500rpm, and thats plenty... no need to have it grunt out more.

the 4 cuts out at 6,000rpm but my 6 puts out at around 6,200rpm. astron is a real torque engine so ur wasting time going to redline, should shift earlier to get ur revs back in the peak area which is around 4,000rpm i think

Agreed, on my KS V6 before changing over to the Lukey LR2779 after around 4500rpm the revs took a while to climb up, but now I have to be careful because the needle swings right up to 6000rpm very easily. Once it jumped up to 6500rpm when I stomped hard during an exit corner. You'll find that the stock muffler is quite restrictive past 4500.

$150 including tip I paid. Just find a 'cheap' place and have them do the rear muffler only.

Yes replacing the muffler will make a big difference.

Mitsubishi has a passion for making really restrictive mufflers that are super quiet lol.

K&N panel filter.

Or a pod if you want to make some Cold air induction for it.
