Hey all,
ive got 2 12" jbl 1000's and i was wondering wat i should do to power them. i was thinking bridging a 4 channel and running them. i was looking at a cheap amp, its a boss 1600W BA4400, i know it wouldnt put out this kinda power coz its a low end amp but even the lower numbers should be enough to power the subs.
i am not worriyng about the price soo much as i have ways of getting anything cheaper anyway. any recomendations would be good.

Stay away from Boss, look at Jaycar

Yeps magnats on the money, a jaycar 4x100 or a Jaycar class-D would run them easily and their price while more than boss is very reasonable. If you look on ebay you can pick up new ones for very cheap.

Just to set things right, their is no such thing as a jaycar amp.

The brand is called Response. You can buy these response amps from many other places, jaycar just sells them, not makes them.

Jaycar used to make the Response amps, now I think they are an independantly owned company, I am getting the guys on CAA to have a further look into it..

Yeah the amps originate from electus and a few online companies sell them, but if you wanna see them in person, least in W.A jaycar is the only place to do it, hence jaycar amps. Even FHRX lists them as jaycar.

if money isn't an issue, then forget the boss, very bad heat distribution, , however a cheap way to power the subs

You have a JBL sub, give it the respect it deserves with being fed A good clean signal from a reasonable quality amp..

Calibre make awesome bang for buck.

I take it you have what I have... JBL GT4-12's (1000W on the dust cap)

See this thread for piccies: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showpost.php?p=243172&postcount=1

I am running them from a JL 500.1 Monoblock with it paralleled into a 2 ohm load.
Plenty loud.

If you can find a $450 JL monblock on here like I did, highly recommended.
Otherwise, go for the 800WRMS Jaycar/Response/Electus/Whatever monoblock which is the same price new.

Jaycar retails the amps. Electus is the sister company of Jaycar and is reponsible for the wholesale business of the John Carr & Co group of companies. Jaycar simply buy from Electus  and then send to the stores.

Jaycar's Response products are made from other companies overseas (China, Korea etc) and are rebadged to Response.

FWIW - I used to work for Jaycar.
