Hi

I have a TF (~100k) that has recently developed a clunking noise when turning left at low speed. Seems to be coming from the right side, and can be 'felt' through the accelerator pedal / firewall. It does not really sound like CV clicking. I suspect steering box. Does anyone know how I can check, or have any other ideas what it may be. If it is steering box problem, are they expensive to repair.

Thanks

First up I'd like to take the honour of welcoming you to our community of Magna enthus... yada yada yada :)

Anyway sounds like it could be a number of problems
CV
Balljoints
Engine mount
power steering fluid

I know a few people have had issues with clunks while turning. Someone will know whats going on.

Peace

Tim

when i lowered mine, one of the springs isn't quite sitting in the strut 100%, so it sorta clunks in and out of place every now and then. been like it for about 2 years but isn't too serious

My guess would be ball joint as only on one side. Also you say only happens at low speed...this is usually when you turn the sharpest into driveways etc this will cause a clunk when ball joint is stuffed. get it checked out asap...if it collapses you will have all sorts of problems.

Thanks for the responses.

Just a postscript in case anyone with similar symptoms is searching the threads. My problem turned out to be due to nothing more than low fluid level. It did take about a day to settle down though, which made me think it was something else.
