View Full Version : tapping into RPM feed on coil causes occasional stalling

Thought I'd start a new post in continuation to this thread about my apexi installation:
http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26740

Anyway, the latest is that for some reason when the RPM wire (from the coil negative) is connected into the apexi, the car will stall at lowish revs (under 1000rpm usually), and also hickup occasionally as im driving. When the RPM wire is disconnected the car runs fine.

The performance shop that has fitted it is unsure what to do from here... they've checked all the wiring and everythign is fine. At this stage they will most likely just remove it and I will cut my losses and give up on fitting the Apexi.

However, does anyone have any last minute solutions before I give up? Mal suggested a diode on the RPM wire - incase there is any back feed. I'll try that.

Anything else?

Not sure it could be done, can't say I've looked into it but could you take your rpm from the crank angle sensor at all ?

i don't know the fix but the reason may be due to interference, similar to why some cars use resistor type spark plugs

hmm, perhaps. Might be able to get it from the crank angle sensor. Ill try the diode and see if that fixes it.
