Hi just wondering if there were any mods I can do to the Verada that increase economy and possibly add performance. As this if pretty much a family car till I win the lottery economy is paramount. I would like to boost the low end power as I like to get to the speed limit as quick as possible but once there like to stay there and have no need to go faster. Most of my driving is around the metro area but (very) occasionaly I will drive out on country roads. At the moment I am getting 390K's to a tank but the auto is stuffed and I was getting around 420 when it was working. This wouldny be so bad but that only lasts for four or five days and I would like to have some spending money for the kids.

You can't have the cake and eat it too (isn't that what they say?). It's either fuel economy or performance. You could try things like new spark plugs, leads, air filter clean, catalytic converter (possibly - thats next on my list), etc and the car might run a little better (and deliver better fuel economy) and might have a little more power too.

LOL yep I know I cannot have both. I just wanted a little mor pickup down low without sacraficing my economy too much. I had a Statesman years ago that had lots of head work stainless valves, stage one cam, 1500 dollar semi-manual valve Turbo400 and braced nine inch. It was the second car in SA to be converted to gas only. Didnt have extractors but did have a three inch pipe for exhaust. It only cost a couple of dollars to travel a 40 kilometer round trip. Didnt have huge performance in higher revs but the torque was phenominal. if you idled from stop it would chirp in all gears. I remember the roads down south were slippery one day and it wouldnt go up a hill, just sat there spinning the wheels. I had to reverse down and go another way. Then went to overtake a common***** at 60kph and went past spinning both rear wheels. God if only I had that sort of money now :)

CROM! Well that sucks big time. Damm I have always had poor milage with Chrysley/Mitsubishi. And I am sure that my driving has callmed down. But I could be wron, thats probably why my wife won't allow me to drive when she is in the car  Either that or something else may be wrong with the thing, however it was given a good check by the RAA before I purchased it. Oh well I shall see what happens once the trans gets fixed. Heh at least the brakes have lasted. Two years on this set where-as when I had the CM Regal a set would only last three months. God that car was fun, Overtaking a line of twelve cars WITH a trailer on the back. Pitty my parents friends were in the group of cars. They said the trailer only touched the ground once or twice

I've just noticed, I only get around 400-450kms for a tank aswell, but my transmission is in need of a service and i've got 300,000km/s on my clock.
