I always hear the storys of the chrome flaking off rims and i would hate for it to happen it me, plus non chrome rims are cheaper, so i was thinking of buyin thr RJR Blades in 18" for 1399 and having them electroplated chrome..good or bad idea and how much would it approx set me back?

cheers

Coat the rims in Glisten PC (Google it ;) ), it's a "hammer-tough" clear coat. I've got it on my side mirrors atm on trial. Seems pretty schmicko.

Electroplating in a current going though water + addictives for chrome etc, try it ur self with something small then perfect it, and charge other people for it.

Not possible to electroplate rims..

If you dont want chroms rims to 'chip and crack'.. Buy decent ones from the start.

Or get them chrome dipped.

Rims come chrome dipped thats why once you scratch them they are stuff..

When they electoplate for chroming you need to dip it into all sorts of chemicals and hydrocrolic(what ever it is) acid is one and it will eat metal.. dont know about alloy though...

Chrome wheels are that expensive so just buy them already done... :D

hydrofluouric acid eats aluminium away thats what they use for chrome plating =)

true true I dropped one of my rims on the face last year and it made gravel marks on the rim but the chrome hasnt flaked or peeled!
