Ok guys, so some of you... well most of you wouldn't know that i wrote off my first gen TP GT but i've since procured a red TR 3L and i'm wondering about exhaust, now i think 2.5" is the optimum size right? well someone correct me on that if its wrong but what i want to know is the alternatives to the lukey LR2779. So what i want is if you guys could tell me what you're running and record the sound for me? i want that real ballsy v6 sound not the droony 4pot sound. thanks people.

get yourself a really big cannon 6" and shove that on a 2.5" system that'll sound loud.

are about $150US brand new off the magnaflow site so who knows locally, still would the actual thing fit under the car??

Dont go any bigger than 2 1/4, You will lose alot of bottom end power with a 2.5 system.

on a v6? i had 2.25" on my 2.6 first gen and it wasn't too bad, i thought a v6, with not only another 400 but also likeing the revs more would love a 2.5"..

Magnaflow, Redback, Remus, Xforce, there's heaps of brands out there.

I don't know if they all have websites tho.

But make sure the muffler has a 2.5" inlet and is straight through.

lol sorry stock is 2 1/4 on v6, thought you'd bought the 4 cylinder. Yeh 2.5 would be nice on the V6, but as killbilly said, make sure the muffler has a 2.5 inlet.

with the 4inch tip on that thing your probably gonna get a fair amount of drone.
I have a magnaflow myself and although its on a 4pot i cant complain with the noise it produces. I got the equivilant to this one at local ACE exhausts for $220 then installation with rest of exhaust. only difference is mine was the model with the 2.25" inlet.

Yeah i thought that but a V6 isnt too droney like a 4cyl anyway, well no where near as bad as can be, i'm still going to get a resonator too.. take a photo of the rear of your car so we can see what it looks like?

how much did your exhausts cost you guys? my last one was 2.25" pressbent and was 390 plus lukey muffler and resonator, whats the going price on mandrell systems?

sorry its not a real good picture but you get the gist. I wanted to have the twin pipes coz i think it suits the second gens. Muffler with press bent 2.25" pipes and very big resonator to make sure it didnt drone cost total of $550.
mandrel was an extra $300 i think which was rather pointless for my car. was a while ago so hence the think.

Seems a lot of you magna owners are asking a lot of questions about exhaust setups, I own a 1st Gen Diamante over in the States with a 3.0 DOHC V6. Our stock piping is 2.25 so when i had my exhaust reworked i upped that to 2.5 post cat and can happily say there is no loss in power, infact there are gains in mid and high rpm ranges, the low rpms stay the same.

I'm running a 2.5 in and out 4 inch round muffler sitting in the center of the car just behind the cat, this splits into a T and comes out either side of the car in 9x1inch tips.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/679479/11 - pictures there
http://www.diamanteowners.com/components/com_simpleboard/uploaded/files/Record002.mp3 - shoddy sound clip there (my phone doesnt pick up any bass, but you can tell that at idle its not obnoxious loud. I'll get a better recording of it one day).

All in all the parts cost me:

Muffler: 70USD (95AUD)
Tips: 120USD (165AUD)
Labor: 100USD (135AUD)

TOTAL: 290USD (395AUD)

That labor price included the extra 2.5 pipe needed for the custom work.

It doesnt have that 4banger rattle, its not stupid loud at idle or cruising round town speeds, but sounds beastly at WOT and accelerating.

I have 2.5" press bent from cat back with resinator and redback exhaust and twin 3" stainless steel tip. Cost about $375 all up. Tip was $100!!! ( but worth it ). Sounds great and is pretty loud. Nice idle note too. See pics

hey i just got a quote from around my place for a custom tig welded mandrel bend system at 3 inches with rezonator and mufler, and that is extractors back, i got quoted $750, im suplying the 3" highflow cat thats about it, ofcourse if i wasnt supercharging this wouldne really be necisarry.
