Umm... i had a small problem like this too... It only did it when i changed Down a gear...
I have a 95 TS V6 manual...
What the problem with mine was... is the Throttle body was filled with carbon... so when i backed off the accelerator and changed down a gear "this also means Neutral"... the engine would realise this... and suck less stuff in... since it was clogged... it couldnt get enough and simply shut down...
It was very dangerous... i was trying to get around a roundabout and the stupid thing turned off... when powersteering goes... you cant do very much but cry...
I think something to do with the idle was also filled with carbon... or "filth"... If anyone gets a problem like that i hope it helps?
It doesnt really cost much from a mechanic... you could even do it yourself... just take off the throttle body and clean out the inside...
"do this at your own risk..."
