2002 MITSUBISHI MAGNA
TJ MY02 Sedan Executive 4dr Auto 4sp 3.0i

That's what I just brought, got it for about $8,500

2002 MITSUBISHI MAGNA
TJ MY02 Sedan VR-X 4dr SA 5sp 3.5i

That is the way I want it to look, I'm a car novice but in particular the things I'd like to modify with my car would be the front grill area where the flood lights are as well as the side skirting. Does anyone know if this is possible and or how much it would cost?

Also - in terms of wheels. What options do I have in the way of genuine VR-X mags or other magna mags or should I just head down to say my local tyre place and pic out whatever I like (I like the look of QUAKE wheels if anyone knows what they are :P)

Ideally I'd like to keep it all genuine parts.

Thanks in advance

quakes are a good wheel, but fairly common these days...

what colour is the car?

all these things can be done... use the search function and all your questions shall be answered :D

It's white, fair few little marks to touch up when I get a chance.
Only thing I've done since getting it is putting on a really dark tint :P

firstly welcome to AMC!!

secondly, if you are wanting to get your car looking as much like a VRX as possible, it would have probably been cheaper for you to buy one in the first place.. Not saying that it was a bad idea buying an exec. and doing it up to look like a VRX, im just suggesting that you should be prepared to pay for a decent amount for these products, especially genuine.
As for the front end, if you are wanting to go for the parabolic headlight, those alone are nearly $450 each side, new from Mitsubishi.. and i would immagine the foggies would expensive also.. as for the kit.. carmate make a fibreglass version of it and im sure it would be a lot cheaper than going into Mitsubishi for a genuine one.. Yes fibreglass isnt as good.. but it is cheaper..

then again, it depends on what your budget allows and what you are willing to spend on it.. i say go for it.. but if you are just going to turn an exec into a VRX, would have been better off getting a VRX in the first place (plus you would have got a power increase aswell:cool:)

anyway, good luck with it dood!!

Forget the VRX look, Go full aftermarket...
There are some nice Bodykits out now for the Magna's but going custom is a way better approach that way it will be your own style and not just some factory look alike clone..

I realise I probably should have gone all out for a VRX, however for the $8,500 I paid for my exec there was no comparison. The cheapest VRX was $16,000 for a 2003 model one.

As for use car yards, carpoint.com.au, carsales.com.au a 2002 VRX starts at about $14,000+ some even come close to $20,000.

Anyway - is there a site with pics of what the after market mods look like?

I guess I just thought of the idea of modding my car because a friends brother has a Commodore VN and brought the whole side skirting/front to make it look like a VN SS for $500. I don't really care much about the difference between my car and the VRX in terms of whats under the hood - I just want it looking cool

Uhm - does anyone know what type of after market kits are around, what they look like and approx how much they cost? I'm after purely cosmetic stuff and I don't really want to spend more then maybe 2,000$ all up + i'd like the ability to do it in parts so I don't have to fork out the cash all at once.

The 2 full aftermarket options which come to mind are the Banbury Motorsport kits (http://www.fastmagna.com/kits/index.html) (as seen on www.fastmagna.com) or the "JN Style" or "Brick" kit (http://www.carmate.com/display_products.php?carMake=mistubishi&carModel=Magna&year=2000-2003%20Sedan) (as seen on www.carmate.com).

Hope this helps.

Yep, the actual auction price was $8,200. It's got fairly high km though since I don't drive alot over the next 2 years it'll drop back to the average km for the car. (Based on redbook's estimation)

Government auctions are truely awesome if you want to get cars that are approx 3 years old and even though you can't test drive them you save a packet. Just hope the guy driving it serviced it regulary which most do.

yeah well not all cars are good...i know of a VY commodore that has a blown diff at 18000km...its the store manager at a Coles supermarket, he is suppose to arrange for service for the car whilst the company pays for it and he cbfed half the time...and when he let other drive the car, it gets trashed bad...

That's a good point. However, being at an auction for $8,500 I figured I'd have $3,000 spare to fix any problems if need be and I crossed my fingers and hoped there was no problems. Besides, even if I brought the same quality car at a car dealer for $11,500 or so I still wouldn't definatly have a problem free car.

My 2002 TJ Sports only cost me $11,750 considering I just found an exact double of my car (02 model, alloys, kit, silver colour etc) for $19,998. But I did get my car from a Ford dealer's used car section and the other car was for sale at a Mitsubishi dealer so if you buy privately or from a rival manufacturer's yard you can stumble across some good cheap cars
