Oval muffs would have more glass packing than the cannons and hence less noise. They are a pretty good quality unit. The materials are of a higher grade then most stainless muffs you can get from auto stores. The stainless is usually quite thin and easy to burn a hole in if you're not paying attention, whereas were yet to hole an Xforce cannon.

what makes you think theres always alot of glass packing. and even so wat makes you think they make less noise. in fact oval mufflers are a better option they are actually louder when installed correctly and give a power boost of a few kW more than a cannon which is mainly for show and doesnt suit a magna in my belief. if you were to get a nice str8 thru oval mufffler without baffles you'll be quite pleased with your purchase. just be sure to toy around with your exhaust shop about the noise level your after

by the way if you weld straight to a cannons body you do know its gunna rip the body a new hole dnt you?? the cannon actually has a weaker body than those of a normal muffler. wwhich is why a gu exhaust shop will utilise a rond hanger to go around your cannon and then weld onto that. check out a cars cannon that has a western mufflers stika on it sum day and you'll see wat i mean

We've fitted a few cannons and a few ovals of various brands since we've had the muff shop. In the vast majority of cases there is more noise reduction from a straight thru oval than a cannon. Many ovals have resonance pouches too, the cannons only have perforations to the glasspack. Sure there are plenty of half pack ovals etc if you'd like more noise. I think the type of straight-thru muff if of the same ID will make f***-all difference between muffs for power gain or loss. The rest of the system will bear the responsibility for that. Mufflers don't make power, they 'muffle' sound. Choosing the correct unit that can maximise the good work done further up the pipe while managing noise to your liking (and the Police's) while dressing up the car as well is all there is too it.

Burning holes: The bent bracket rod still has to be welded to something, most people don't want to see a weld on their shiny new cannon. Ever fitted a cannon?
