Was the TJ (KJ) version of the Verada the first with the 5 speed tiptronic box or did the TH (KH) model already have it, other than the appearance what is the difference between the KH and KJ Verada? Are they the same mechanically, do they still go well in spite of the extra weight? They are a nice car and supreme in NVH levels even by today's standards so I've heard, I love quiet cars. I could only just keep up with a KJ Verada driven by a P plater on the 100 kph highway near my house but I stopped at 100 kph he kept going.....idiot, but that Verada was really moving and I doubt that my VX could have kept up if I had not backed off at the speed limit.
I guess I should post questions as individual threads but I have one last somewhat 'silly' question, the instruments in the veradas which light up when the ignition is on or whatever can the white colour be changed to a different colour like green or red?

Thanks, the KH Veradas are quite cheap now, I can't imagine a magna being much quieter than even the base models but apparently they are, I'll have to look at some.
A lady friend of mine used to have a KH model but it was written off and they got a VT, she said that when driving the Verada she felt like she was driving a $100,000 car it was so nice.
I think they weigh a **** load more than an exec or Advance model though so there would be some performance sacrifice but with luxury to boot.

even the KJ's are getting cheaper now.. i saw one for sale for 14k with only 96,000kms on it.. but they still have plenty of power.. mum had a KJ Xi and it hammered... if you get one, make sure you get an Xi becuase you get all the bells and whitsles (sunroof and leather).. you will enf up kicking yourself if you dont..
all in all they are an unbelivable car for the price

Dude, I have a KJ1 - i changed over from a TJ, cant say i noticed any real difference in noise levels - maybe slight, but they are supposed to have more sound deadening in them.....from what I have been able to find out, KJ's are about 70kg heavier than TJ's - you DO notice this with gear changing,(with auto's) havnt really noticed any loss of power - it still gets up and boogies!, and with TCL as standard, nice little feature!, personally, i wouldnt worry too much between Ei & Xi - unless you MUST have leather and sunroof!!!!, im quite happy with the Ei - but mine is a wagon, ive never actually seen a Xi wagon! - also, they are 45mm longer in the front.....can catch you out if your not careful! - i came within millimetres of bumping into a BMW in kmart car park not long ago when parking it!!
without doubt, im extremely satisfied with what the car offers!

Thanks Ricbec, even the TJ II Advance is a nice car and you can get them quite cheaply, I saw a couple at the Govt. auctions. I have heard that the series 2 TJ magnas have the Sports or VRX cams but a more restrained exhaust? Or something like that, I have also heard that if you put a sports muffler on the 155kw TJ 2 you virtually end up with Sports or VRX type performance and similar power out put figures but I don't know if any of this is true?

From what I've been able to tell, the difference between a KH and KJ2 Verada is the 5 speed tippy, in dash stacker and side impact bolsters in the front door pockets in the KJ2. As for the instruments in the KH on Verada, they are a CCR, Cold Cathode Ray, tube set up and as far as I am aware can not be modified without great expense. When released in the KH we were told the cluster was worth about $1500 to the dealer. And there were no XI wagons built officially.
