Hey guys, I'm looking at selling my Magna, and have come across a few things that I want to get fixed before I sell it (to maintain some decent resale).

Basically, the only thing I'm unsure of, is that when I've got the car idling, it makes a fairly loud ticking noise constantly. I pulled the car up, popped the hood, and turned off the aircon, and it kept making it. It sounds as tho it's coming from the under the engine cover, so I can't really decide what it could be.

Additionally, and probably related, when I let the car roll in 1st Gear, at idle speed (no throttle at all), it will jump forward or back occasionally, meaning that I usually ride the clutch or give it throttle to stop it.... note that it doesn't stall.

Also, say if I'm doing a fairly slow speed, like 40... it feels like the front wheels are a bit 'jumpy'. They seem to give a rough ride. The tire pressure and tread seem fine, and wheel alignment 'shouldn't' be an issue.

I checked the oil this morning, and considering I know sweet f-a about cars, it seems fine. The oil mark is just a little above the two "indents' in the stick.

Anyway guys, any help would be appreciated... if not, I guess I'll take it to a mechanic so he can financially rape me.

PS. Anyone know if Super Cheap could order spare parts, like inside door handles, front mount for a license plate etc for my Magna? Or will I have to rely on MMAL's ... support?

yer u wanna do an engine oil flush, maybe even an injector cleaner, then change the oil,

the inside of the door handles on the inside are like $5 or so from local MMAL dealer

I have this ticking noise as well......

I was guessing it could be my drive belts....they seem like they need a overhaul...
I cannot think of any other reason for the clicking noises

I have a similar ticking noise, but mine's due to a power stering belt fraying, and valves getting bent. :P

Umm.. Just to let you konw, the two marks on the dip stick... One is min, one is max...

Probably not the best idea to have it filled above the second mark :)

yeah, well the mechanic did it on the major service... it doesn't bother me... it won't necessarily cause anything worth mentioning given that it is merely a "suggestive" fill point, and the oil mark is literally, mm's above it.

i reckon it could be the tappets, or probably an oil top up.
(ours was making same ticking sound, turned out just needed more oil)

as for super cheap, no we dont have the inside door handles, or front mount for the licence plate, just head off down to your local wreckers and you should be sweet

I had very noisy tappets. Ticking noises were driving me insane untill I got it serviced. They adjusted tappets and the noises went.

How could they adjust the tappets? they use hydralic lifters which have no adjustment

I heard somewhere on here that the V6's dont have tappets, just the hydraulic lifters, which can be noisey. Also injectors can make a ticking noise, but I dont think it'd be as noisey as the hydraulic lifters. Oil and filter change, if it does it after that, get a mechanic to check it out
