Hi,

Im assuming my magna still has factory air which would be R12. I know this gas is now illegal, however there is legal versions (ER12 and HR12). Now theres a place here that can regas the system for like $80 and can do the r12 systems, and id have to make sure they service it or whatever as the a/c has been gassless for a long time, and i dont know how much extra that would be. Now the laternative is to get the system converted to r134a, which my friend got his camry converted and gassed for about $150.

So what do you think we should do? convert it or have this place re-gas and service it?

p.s may be good to note that we wont be keeping this magna forever, planning on replacing it in 1 or 2 years

is there any advantage of paying the 150 to get it converted and gassed???
cos if there isnt i would just got for the 80 regas of the legal stuff
also watch out the compresser i think it is cos they tend to die if they havnt had gas in them in a long time so if that needs replacing get one from a wreckers that still had gas in the system

just buy the fittings to convert r12 to 134a from repco cost aprox $20 change the filter (drier) and the 2 orings then take it to the cheepest regaser they will see the fittings and fill it with r134a
