Hi there new to forum, bought a second hand TL magna sedan running factory LPG option, runs very well and happy with the car. 2 questions, I asked the dealer but he didnt know

1) with the LPG there seems to be a Cat convertor installed when you look underneath instead of straight thru pipe, or is is a resonator. You dont need a cat convertor from memory with LPG cars to pass emission (stand to be corrected). If its a cat converter has anybody had a straight thru pipe fitted and any benefit from doing so in terms of throttle response (or is the throttel respose crappy because of the gas carb) Had a 351 CI falcon on straight gas with 2 Gas research carbies and it was snappy

2) The car is fitted with atrocious factory steel rims. If I get say some 17" or 18" rims how easy is it to reprogram the injection computer to account for the different tyre sizes.

Any comments helpful

Thanks
Tam

as far as i know you will get more power without a cat on lpg,,i dont know why they would fit one anyways cats are only for unleaded fuels, lpg is a lot cleaner, if it un bolts un bolt it and have a look see if it is if its welded it wont be a cat

When u upgrade rims the actual rolling diameter doesnt change. Rims get bigger, tyre profile gets smaller.

Otherwise all ur speed measurements will be off as well.

Anyway you can easily fit 18's or 19's. 20's are possible too.

Just out of curiosity how much do TL's with lpg go for 2nd hand? Looking into one as we speak for someone.

Welcome to the forums

I bought mine from the dealer for 21 grand, its a 2003 september and had 17,000 on the clock

Reason I asked about rolling diameter, a mate of mine got a SCT flash tuner for the ford EEC V systems used on fords of corse and some mazdas, in the program you can change all the stuff to do with rolling diameter of the tyres. He has believe it or not a mazda tribute that hammers, his last dose of something idiotic for it is to get alot smaller diamter rims on it so its like dropping a diff ratio (without having to stuff around with the diffs or course)

Gas research carbs? I've heard of them but can't get in touch with anyone. I've got a TH on LPG and am looking to get more ponies from the LPG. Is it true that you can leagally remove your CAT if your vehicle is dual fuel?

What sort of fuel consumption are you getting on the dedicated gas? I recently saw a 2005 ES dedicated gas in a dealer for 24999 might have have ben tempted.
