Looking at TEMAGNA and other people who have done this so...
Right i know that you simply put on some hinges on the end of the stock boot lid arm but my question is this, how do you stop the boot from being openable once you have done this, a friend suggested using a scissor hinge design ( will post rough pics ) this would mean that the travel on the suicide part could also be regulated stopping the lock from smashing the rear window.
I also thought of putting a ( dont know the name but wanna call it an air ram thingy like is used on the bonnet) air ram thingy there to regulate movement making it much more regular and less likely to slam open/closed.
Any ideas would be appericiated, no matter how stupid.. *edit: actually i know u lot, no stupid ideas!*

Firstly :bump:
Secondly with my hi tech computer drawing software

as you ca see the air ram both limits the travel of the boot lid and acts as a dampener on the movement.
If the air ram is used to limit the travel of the boot arm so that it never actually reaches 90 degrees i should also be able to siply pull the boot straight down with no problems.
The problem of the boot being openable even when locked has been solved with a 'magical hhok' tha is mounted on the underside of the bootlid and hooks under the body of the rest of the car , this should fit under due to the rotational nature of closing the boot and secure it from wind and prying hands.
Any further ideas appericiated...

i like the gas strut (air ram) idea, but the hook? i dont get it
basically when u open the boot it will just pivot, but when closed the boot wll be locked so u cant open it

The hook is meant to stop the boot being openable even when shut as it is no longer fully attached to the boot arm, i cant see it being easy to open but i could see it being do able. I need TEMAGNA to clarify this as he has done it on his car, and is the inspiration...

u would need alot of effort to rip the boot off, the normal boot arms hold the boot on by 2 bolts each side (from memory), i really wouldnt be too worried about it, but we'll see what TEMAGNA has to say
il lbe looking into doin this mod when i i get my audio done

Yeh but you have to remove the bolts for it to work as suicide, ie the only part of the boot that is actually attached is at the very end of the boot arm, so it would be significantly weaker than normal but yes temagna is needed...

When the strap hinge is installed in covers the 2 top bolt holes (for it to flip) i have it locked down by the 2 lower bolts.
