Im into metal, and a bit of bassy stuff on the side. So I decided to get 2 10 inch subs for my boot.
Now, I can get 2 of the Jaycar branded subs OR I have seen 2 Clarion Pro Audio 600W 10 inches for around $260 with the box and all.
Which would be a better choice?

I'd probably go the Clarions but it isn't much of a choice.
Those subs would be 600W peak... so about 220WRMS.
What sort of Box? Sealed or poerted or even bandpass?

i would go for the jycars, they are a good all round sub that can handle alot of power
pair it up with 1 of their 2x150w rms amps and ull be cooking with gas

Comes down to which sounds better I guess. Demo them and find out.
Jaycar have a good reputation for bang for your buck. Whereas Clarion are Car Audio specific albeit their entry level gear...

Looks like its sealed.
So $260 is a good price for them? Id just have a friend install them in the end so thats no problem.

Sealed is always the better option for low-end drivers.
Reason: The sealed enclosure acts as a cushion to the cone. As the cone goes out, a small vacum is created within the box, pulling back on the cone of the sub, which helps it from over-excursion. Same when the cone is going in... it creates pressure that cushions the cone and voice coil from bottoming out.
Cheap drivers in ported boxes still sound good, although the port size & length (the tuning of the port) needs to be pretty spot-on. Bad port tune with a lower-end sub only exacerbates the bad points.... in fact, it usually sounds awful.
Most audio speaker companies pour alot of research (trial & error) to get the best sound out of their driver(s) in a packaged box, be it sealed, ported or bandpassed. When you buy a branded box with speakers installed, you may pay a bit more, but you are more than likely getting the best sound both SQ and SPL in most situations.
And you are paying for convenience too!
Sounds like a good price, 2x10's in a box.... should have very nice, punchy bass. Would still like to know the model number of the subs so I could go check out their specs.... please get me one if you can. Also RRP on a single 10" sub of the same model.
Jaycar monoblock amp would power them nicely, or their 2x150WRMS class AB would also do the job, better quality bass if you run a 4ohm load off each channel. Wont be as loud, but you shouldn't need a hell of alot of power to get these cones moving and producing some good bass.
If you happen to find a good, cheap 2x200WRMS amp (like secondhand from CAA), go for that. A bit of headroom on cheap subs never hurt!

Clicking on the Individual Subs will bring up a Detailed Adobe File so Adobe reader has to be installed in order to see it
PA 10S is the ones that are probably in Question..

Ta....
Looks okay. Those SRX cones look nice though.
I still think they will be better SQ than the Jaycars, but possibly not as loud.
