i had my brakes done a lil bit ago, and they have squeeked ever since. they told me they needed time to bed in. month later i went back and was very unimpressed that the noise had gotten worse, they roughed up the pads and it was great for 4 days now its even worse again. the discs were machined but are on minimal thickness could that be why it wont stop makin noise? or is there something else to do wth the brakes that i dont know about?

I don't know much at all but I had the same problem and a mate of my said to get my brakes glazed? Not sure if it helps or not but he seemed to think that it would.

get the brakes glazed? i have heard that the brakes can glaze this disc, but they guy didn't sound that knowledgable, so i dunno.
my brakes are very squeeky too, so i took it to midas to get it looked at and have the pads replaced if they were worn. all the pads were fine and the guys said that certain pads don't always bed properly with slotted rotors. so basically i'm going to live with it until i need new pads, but considering this is a rear pad squeaking i may do something sooner.

My brakes squeek all the time, i only just got brand new brake pads for the front and rear, i tihnk they even machined the discs if i remember correctly, and it did nothing.. its so annoying, and i find it embarressing, makes the car look dodge

I asked a mechanic about mine doing that actually (it was also happening in my mums Nimbus).
Basically, in the past they used to use asbestos in brakes and they never squeaked. After asbestos was banned from being in most situations, they had to use a new type of brake and its probably the one you got now. Most peoples brakes squeak, its only when you start paying more that they dont. :P

The most common reason for brakes to squeal is from cheap pads.. Hense why Taxi`s always do it.. :D
Are they cheap pads..??
Do you ever brake heavy? Or are you one of those people that just ride their breaks a little to stop in a long distance. If you usually slow down heaps in advance there is a chance it could just be brake dust and you can get rid of it by making your discs glow (or just get them hot) and it will get rid of the dust.
I only know this because i ust to have the same problem but was told to do this and it worked.

ahar well yeah they are cheapies but iver never had the prob with cheap pads before and it was thru midas so noo doubt i got some dodge pads put in but yeah fullly agree with gregglesth it makes ya look dodgy and embarassing pulling up at a set of lights...the exhaust blubbing away and then high pitch metal screeching. it really sets impressions, lol

Did you use anti-squeel compound when installing the brake pads?

im just so over my brakes, they squeel, im used to it.
If i was to buy another magna i would either get a Ralliart, or if not, upgrade the brakes on any other magna to Ralliart spec. It would be near the top of the mod list.

Don't be too sure, my AWD which i understand shares the same setup with the Ralliarts also sweaks - quite badly I must add. it's now done 65000 km but was serviced about 5000 kms ago with a clean bill of health.
Also its starting to Judder a little on brake application so it's going into another workshop next week to check for disc warp.

Yes i have this problem too, at least now i know im not the only one
my mechanic tells me the pads are fine, but i agree that maybe more
expensive pads will stop the squeaks
Just turn up the system and you wont hear it!;)
