Right some of the W.A members will have heard me whining on about ' some random pipe sticking out the bottom of my car'. It is attached to this big cylider thang ( which was hanging loose in my engine bay) what i need to know is where does it go/connect to..

I don't believe it belongs anywhere and is in exactly the right place from that filter lol
Someone else will give you the tech spiel I am sure on what this does exactly.
that is the charcoal canististor, and that hose is meant to point to the ground (not connected to anything) it is the vent from the charcoal canistor

I had the same problem...mine was hanging loose as well until i clipped it back on...my hose was sticking far out the bottom...i figured it cant be too critical since the car is still running

It is the charcoal cannister and that hanging hose is meant to connect to a thin aluminium fuel type pipe. It runs to the fuel tank and purges all the fuel vapours from the tank. During part throttle cruising the vapours are then sucked into the T/B through the thick top hose to be burnt in the engine. If the bottom hose is open, it may allow an air leak into the engine.

all it does is lets the fuel tank breath through the charcoal :P
