I was just browsing the import websites when I took a look at the new (2-3yo) Skyline - hmmm, I thought as the prospect of a "Tiptronic 8-SPEED automatic with steering wheel controls" crossed my mind.
http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/?/au/stock/details.asp?StockID=3564
What has this got to do with a Mitsu 380, I hear you ask ?
Well, then I took a look at the Skyline shape and remembered someone on AMC mentioning that some people thought their 3rd Gen had some of the R32-R34 Skyline looks.
Apart from the front, there are some simularities (try looking with one eye closed, the other slightly out-of-focus and your tongue in the left cheek while rubbing ya tummy :P )...
(by the way, why is it so hard to find pictures of the 380 on the internet?)

Oh and also found this while searching for pictures...
What others think of the new 380...

...and here are some other pictures (to save others the time that I spent searching...) Maybe a good avatar in one of these for someone who owns a 380 ???

If it were offered I would probably take the skyline. Neither of them is pretty but at least the skyline has interesting lights.

I was saying before that them 2 cars look alike. They even have the angle at the back and the same rear qtr window.
They probably use the same software and just click a morph button lol

yeah i reckon at an angle the 380 looks bit like r34, the back looks like the vectra though or is it just me?

also compare these, the 380 and what not to the latest Vectra and the new Gen Liberty.
can anyone see history repeating itself, during the late 80's/early 90's when every 4 door sedan looked the same ?

yeah, back in the late 80's/early 90's they did look the same. But now, when you look at them they look different - guess we just got used to them and got used to picking up the differences. Maybe the same will happen to the modern cars. They look the same/similar now but in a couple of years we will say - nah, they look totally different!

i see wat your getting at and i was told by a friend so don't quote me true that most car manufacturers are going for a new style of design called "DNA Design" which is the shape that you see the 380 and G35 in its supposed to be an advanced aerodynamic body shape or sumthing do a google search for the '06/ '07 Honda civic and it resembles a simlir silouette

Not a Skyline fan, But it will be more value for money in reselling it for sure.
380 is ok IMO, not a great fan either, do not know why I still Like the TL shape over 380. I guess I need to test drive 380 to see for myself.

Was thinking the same thing, looks very nice. Too bad you put a TH front on as this lip is made for TE-TF front bars lol
Note: you probablly can't even buy that kit locally

Ahh but I have bought a sports front lip which I also happen to like a lot, that snaps straight on to the TH bar... I just need to get it professionally installed and learn how to park further away from curbs after it's installed. lol

Actually, easier for me to find import parts then aussie parts! There's going to be alot of V35 skyline parts filtering in from Japan if it ever takes off.

Damnit people Isnt there anything better to do than compare how similar cars are?

I was with another AMC member today at Mitsubishi Southside, and we saw some imperfections on the rear bumper of the 380. I didnt noticed it till he pointed out to me. Could have been the paint job. Anyways if given a choice of the 380s I would take the GT version.

You better hope that no one from SAU (apart from myself read this forum), cause those boys would have a field day on your thread, for trying to compare a G35 to a 380.
My personal opinion is that they are both ugly cars.
You say they are similar, in what way? The only similarity I see is that both have wheels, they are silver, they are a sedan, and have euro ass end with euro taillights. I could name a few cars that are like that.
You can make any car look like a skyline, if you are willing to spend enough money, but it won’t ever beat the real thing. I’ve seen Commodores, Honda’s, Magna’s, kitted and done up which now look like skyline’s. This even includes my bf’s new kit on his magna, too. Because a lot of the kits for magna, regardless of what they are called, are mostly Nismo or aftermarket Skyline front bars that are chopped, moulded and fitted to make them into magna body kit. An example of this is the “JN Style” bodykit. This is the case with a lot of cars though; they just mould something of one car to another. Cause there is no point in re-inventing the wheel, so to say. Although I look forward to hopefully seeing someone who makes a new kit come out with a bit more originality, cause there aren’t much to choose from atm.
Before I get shutdown I have driven the 380, yes it’s a very nice car to drive, but still ugly. I haven’t driven a G35, as they have only just been allowed compliance rights in Perth so there aren’t that many of them around. I would imagine them being quiet different to drive.
At the ended of the day, they are very different cars, and attract different types of people.

Why should we care if someone from another forum reads this thread?
If they come on to cause **** then we'll just ban them and they're really stupid for doing it IF they do. I fail to see the problem.

fordchic - they have reinvented the wheel, its called the tweel, not even landmines can destruct it.
just thought id bring that up as you said theres no point, but they have and its alot better then conventional wheels.
as for the g35 and the 380...HAVE A CLOSER LOOK THEY ARE VERY SIMILAR

have a chat with Booya, Dave or a select others and i bet they'll beg to differ ;)

why would anyone want something that looks like a skyrine? skyrine = fugy cars with the possible exception of the R32. Skyrines, good cars they may be, have the worst reputation cos of the amount of try hards that own them
i'd prefer to do something different with my money then become yet another person with a skyrine and a cannon.. so many cars out there that not only are a million times more original then a bloody skyrine, but just as quick of not quicker, and often for less money

the Maxima is also the new model of the cefiro...... the cefiro was the 4 door family sedan version of the r32 ..( basically same car just diferent shell) ... interesting how all these models criss cross each other over the years

new maxima is not a cefiro the ceffys have a model No that stars with A (a31 being those cool drifter ones) then they went FWD with the A32 and A33 then (both were called maxima in this country
the J series were proper maximas there was J31 (1986ish to 1991) before the A32 (1992 to about 1995) in this country then A33 then finally what we have now J32
magnas dont look anything like skylines IMHO
the 380 looks like a cheap and nasty copy of a J32 maxima or even slightly like G35 skyline

The 380 looks nothing like the Maxima. The front of the Maxima is so ugly I wanna get a car bra to stop it looking so startled. Though, the interior of the Maxima, still looks alright. But, the back end if ****ing hot as (especially in black).
