how long is a piece of string. It cud go for ages. squilt a bit of oil in the low cylinder and check comp again. If it cums up yur rings are sad, if it dont its probly yur valves.
Ive had donks with low compression last for ages only to drop dead suddenly. Is it blowing smoke yet? It cud just be a stuck compression ring

well do as O'l Fart said and put a few drops (3) of oil down the plug hole and redo the comp test (with the same guage) with the oil in there it is what is known as a wet test, if comp raises then its a good sign your rings are gone, if not a cylinder leakdown test will need to be performed
Jake, getting engine done on monday. Both compression and cylinder leakdown test. :D

I dont think he trusts me Jake. I'm hurt :sook:
Ol'Fart,I do trust you.Same as Jake.
Thanks TN88,
And i'm sure we can trust you ol'fart
Good luck with the tests mate, it could be a number of things, from a burnt out exaust valve to blown headgasket, worn compression rings or a few other things, i hope whatever it is its on the cheaper side for repairs

fix it asap, last thing you want is to have to rebuild it completely. you might get away with a set of new shells and rings and a vrs kit.
if you let it go, pushing your luck, then you might damage the bore, burn valves, clash valves, bend rods and if you get water in your oil then you can frig your oil pump and alot of other pricey engine bits.
Actually, TC, they're within operational parameters of 10% of each other.

Those arnt too bad. Theres a small increase on the wets test and air is a bit off but thats not as bad as the 125 you were seeing b4.
If its not blowing smoke under load she should go for a while yet I would have thought.
My manual says nominal dry is 1250 kpa which if the math is as good as it was is about 181.25 Psi +/- 10% so your pressures are ok. :)
Keep an eye on that number 3 though, borrow a comp tester in a few hundred k's and see how its going.
hello all, engine not too bad. Will run as it till 2006.
But not too happy with f@#$% first garage with the test they did! By the way,the boss(work) used them.
