Ok, heres my new problem.... Basically, long story short, when i turn the key to start my car, it cranks really really slowly, struggles to start, then when it does, it hits around 800rpm, so it sounds like its about to stall, so i give the accelerator a little kick and off she goes!
This is getting worse and worse as its taken it longer to crank, but sometimes on the rare occasion it starts fine!
I have put a pretty beefy sound system into it recently, so i thought it may be the battery, however, the RAA dude did a test on it and said it was fine, and it was only replaced last year.
Also, after i start the car and get out of it, i smell a big fuel scent, could that have anything to do with it, or is it a seperate problem.. ooorr is it normal?
Any help would be GREAT! and if you need more info on anything, then just ask

May I know the grade of Engine oil you are using? Crap oil sometimes really stress the engine. And how long was this since you serviced the car?

Or take the battery and receipt to the place where you bought it and get it replaced under warranty as the battery is less than 12 months old ;)
Im guessing your starter motor...
or your alternator...
If you battery is only 1yr old....
And as for the fuel smell, I think thats because as you said when it starts it hits 800rpm, and you give it a little gas...?? not all the fuel is burning away so yeh I am suspecting thats the cause for the fuel smell...??

First thing i might do is get the thing serviced, i think its about that time again... if that doesnt help, then maybe ill look into getting a more powerful battery. I just hope that the car doesnt screw up on me in a bad situation, like after work at midnight, where as i would be stranded there.... Thanks for the help so far guys, if anyone has any other opinions, suggestions, anything at all, then please speak up :D

sounds to me like your battery has insufficient cca (cold cranking amps). try turning off all the audio equipment and see if it does the same thing. your current battery might be in perfect condition but i assume the guy who checked it didn't realise how much electrical load you were subjecting it to with all that audio equipment? get a higher cca-rated battery.

My guesses are faulty battery, maybe worn alternator and starter motor worn. But for the 800rpm thing could be a few things. Do you use accelerator when starting? Fuel injected cars usually automatically inject the right amount of fuel and if ya use accelerator can put too much fuel in and overfuel it but shouldnt be that bad. Maybe disconnect the battery and let the ECU reprogramme all its settings, could be it's not fuelling enough on startup too.

i had this prob, eventually the belts started to squille really loud so i pulled over and the nut that holds the idler pully had rattled completely off causing the belt to only have half tension and thus, only half charging, went to the wreckers and he charged be $5 for 2 nuts. could aslo be the belts are too old and-or loose.
