Hi
I know this isn't really a magna related question but i heard this forum was very helpful at stuff like this.

I have bought a 92 Pajero 3.0 litre v6 for a crazy price of $2000. Everything works on it, has power everything plus the bonus of a sunroof. The only draw back is it's engine has clapped out. the left bank's head is cracked, pistons damaged (mainly from lack of oil), among other things. My question is could I transplant a magna engine from around the same era (92 3.0 v6) straight into the pajero without too many problems? The engines are identicle arn't they?

any help on this would be much appreciated.

Regards
Steven

While the engines are the same design, there are a few differances. The 3.0 (6G72) in the Magna is mounted 90 degrees to the 3.0 in the Pajero. This means the engine mounts will porbablly not mount up correctlly, the inlet and exhaust manifolds will be facing the wrong direction and other anchilaries will probablly be in the wrong possition. And finally I believe the Magna 3.0 ran differeanct cam specs and tunning (more power.torque than Pajero, but Paj built torque lower in rev range) so the Pajero ECU will probablly not run the Magna engine efficienttly.

I'm sure other members will give you more detailed information, good luck with the changover.

Thanks for the reply. I thought there would be some differences between the both. I just hope it is possible to change them over..
with the different power/ torque outputs should i be looking for a 2nd hand pajero engine instead of the magna? also what is your estimates with prices?? wrecker etc?
