The lead in to the air filter confuses me... unless there is another filter inside
why has it got an externally exposed filter if the induction is coming via a pipe through the middle of it?

I would rather explore the reasons why before I write it off... but yeah, you could very well be right, but it is just a few angled bling pipe fittings with a flexi pipe and filter... not much else to it by the looks, I would think scam would be more like those little electric circuits which are 'supposed' to trick the MAF and the blower intake propellor thing etc.

On the website they show pics of pod filters with a filter element on the 'inside' as well.

but I'm thinking the 'lead in' flexible piping with the 'velocity funnel' would be a pretty good product for delivering cold air from the front bar to a K&N panel fitted std air box, or a enclosed POD box in the engine bay.
