Hey guys i'm looking for a 200-250wrms mono for my JL10W3 (DVC). I found this guy ( http://www.doranproaudio.com.au/products/detail.asp?prodID=830 ) what do you rekon of the price etc, what else is out there in the $300 price range? I'd prefer to spend some bucks and get something decent but not TOO many bucks.. also I'm thinking about getting a capacitor.. With 400wrmsX4 and a 200wrmsX1 amps what would i be after? just a 1 farad? what are some good brands etc etc etc.. i was thinking about selling off the JL and trying 2 12", although my little JL goes the rocks but 2 big meaty 12's would look the goods, thinking of Alpine Type S or Fusion subs, what else is in this ($150-200ea) price range of subs thats alright?

I know i'm a cheapskate but hell, not everyones got a money tree in their toilet

That's not a class D amp. 2x80WRMS means it is isn't a monoblock. Monoblocks will only EVER be rated at 1 channel (4 ohm or 2 ohm)

Alpine monoblocks are quite good (get the 500W model, it's 500WRMS @ 2ohms)... the JBL ones aren't bad either but are more expensive ($450). Otherwise go for the Jaycars which are somewhat cheaper (just under $400)

If your battery and wiring up up to scratch, capacitors don't do much. Invest in a decent power cable setup and you will be fine.

As for 2x12's..... Repco are now stocking pioneer.... they have TSW-306C's (1000W peak, SVC @ 4ohms, 35L sealed box required) for $119 each as an introductory offer. Got the cattledog in my mailbox today. These will do the biz.

JBL GT4-12's like mine are that price from Strathfield. The sensitivity on them is really good, but the pioneers would have better SQ.

As for that blaupunkt, wouldn't recommend it. No HPFs on the channels other than the sub.
It wil also struggle to deliver power to the rest of the speakers during a big bass hit.

Better to go a separate 4x100WRMS for the extra speakers, and a sinlge monoblock for the sub.

Or get 2x300W Alpine monoblocks (cheap amps, 1x300WRMS @ 2ohms), feed one into each Voice coil... no problemo! (This is what I would call external bridging of amps.)

Is that sub 2 ohm VC's or 4 ohm VC's? Hopefully 2 if you want to go the dual alpine monoblock route... or if 4 ohms, go the 1x500WRMS Alpine monoblock and parallel the coils....

i got a crossfire monoblock 1x1300WRMS @ 2ohms at 14.4v ... goes hard but sucks the juice from the battery ... i have a 4x100wrms crossfire amp for the speakers with a 1.5 farad cap

just remember the more power you use the better your electrics will have to be :(

Hop on CAA and find some second hand stuff. Usually heaps of good stuff for sale there..

I'd buy your JL, if you didn't want so freaking much for it! lol (i'm a tightarse as well)
Anyway, if you were changing to two JL 12s, I probably wouldn't bother, unless you're getting two 12W3s...Not worth the extra cash for the money. Fusion? Forget about it. Aren't that many good subs for 150-200 unless second hand. Stick with your W3 if u only wanna spend 200 bucks on new subs.
