the stock efi cars are sposed to run an 18.2 and the carbs a good .5 more or so. i read that in some review they had on the net.

my car did run a 17 flat, but that was on a pretty hot night in townsville. sucks being in the tropics. i shouldve taken it in winter, though it wasnt that much cooler... could barely call it a winter up here.

My TP with a weber 32/36 carby, CAI, and 2.25" exhaust does the 1/4 mile inbetween 17 to 17.5 seconds, just depends on how the fuel mixture is. I feel it could do abit better with more mixture tuning, first gear feels alittle too sluggish.

throw a cam into the mix. a mild cam is good if u want the extra "rev free" feel with only slightly worse fuel economy. if u arent worried with the fuel economy that much, try a slightly more aggressive cut on the cam. with the mild, u will go low 17's or high 16's all day and with the more aggressive cam, i reckon youll be well into 16's.

also, have u advanced ur timing? advance it as much as possible before it starts pinging.

1st gear is sluggish in mine too. its just the gear ratios. can u feel it really pick up in 2nd gear? same as mine. you can't do too much about it. wat were your 60 ft times? my best was a 2.431 60 ft time. and wat revs were u launching at? i only launched around 2000-2500 as thats sposed to be where the mild cam makes peak torque.

can you get your hands on a AFR meter? (air/fuel ratio) try to get ur hands on one of them. you may need to get an air flow meter hole drilled into the exhaust as close to the manifold as u can. then all i did is plug the AFR meter into the air flow meter hole drilled into my exhaust, plugged it into a laptop and me and jason (turbo_charade) went for a few runs around the streets, using different throttle positions. eg, primaries only, cruising speeds, WOT etc... using the graphs it produced, we could then change the jets and therefore change the fuel mixture to suit the car for every situation.

thats all i can think of doing. other than not taking that much fuel out there. even if u just take a jerry can with u and top up alittle bit before your run. i think i did runs on a 1/4 of a tank though.

I was thinking about doing more mods to the magna, including extractors, to see if it gives me some more low range power. But I am holding off, I don't want to spend anymore money doing up the old magna :D

Yea, as soon as I change to 2nd gear it takes off. I still feel my 1st gear takeoff's could be improved alittle by tuning the carby mixture, but my TP is an auto so I can't really expect anything big. Is yours an auto? I haven't done a 60ft test, nor did I pay attention to the revs I was launching at, but my best 0-100km/h time is 9.8 seconds.

Yep, as I bought a cat-back EFI exhaust from Nick on these forums; I needed an EFI manifold to go with it, so my dad made up a cool mixture level LED display, using the oxygen sensor on the exhaust manifold. I have been using it to tune the mixture, but will leave the fine tuning for when I return back to Toowoomba, as altitude levels have an impact on the mixture aswell.

Out of interest I was never sure which vacuum line goes where on the dizzy.
There are 2 lines an inner and an outer, any idea whether they should go to manifold vacuum or ported vacuum on the carby? By inner I mean the one that is closer to the body of the dizzy.
