hey ive been considering putting a cai on my car for a while but have just one concern.
i do alot of stop starting ie. some times i might start my car 10 times in 10ks. i was just wondering if cai would stop my car from warming up as quickly and if so driving it while it is cold would do or lead to n e damage.

your thermostat will sort that out mate, go for the CAI and reap the reward of 0.3kw :D

thats dyno proven .3kw, real life, i was really impressed when i fitted my cai, have to compare it to when i get my chip put in for gains.

just a query with the dyno .3kw wouldnt the actual figure be a alittle bit higher. when ur driving wouldnt you get colder and more air whilst moving than sitting on a dyno.
dunt know if my reasoning is right but he u might b getting a fraction more power from it

i guessed a number, my point is that its mostly for the sound and offers very little rear world benifits when done with pvc or ducting.

yeah i know but i experienced personally quite a dramatic difference.

I wouldnt use any ducting, that just decreases the air flow imo. the only proper way to do it is have a vent and a sealed vent at that, only allowing air to come from the vent.
and even then its not exacty going to make you a lot of power, max 2kw, as NA engines dont tend to need alot of air nor care if its 2 degrees hotter than ambient.

it is however a very cheap mod you can do for power, cooler air really just means your engine is working more efficiently(Nitrous is an extreme example, slightly diff though). With denser air particles being sucked in. Also it will complement other mods , such as extractors, zorst, and tb very nicely, a good way to finish off your induction. Think about it, would you want your car sucking cool air ? or hot air ?
Also, dyno tests do not demonstrate the benefits of a CAI, as oten they are done with the bonnet open, which defeats the purpose of a cai (getting away from under bonnet heat)
hope i helped u out !
later

i've got a big write on CAI for the 2nd gens coming soon, with my findings etc.
But basically i found i had more pull in the lower rev range, but sacrificed abit in the high rev range.

Why not???
PVC is not rated for the extereme temps of the engine bay heat, will melt, warp all that fun stuff.
