Hey guys
have finished my CAI on my carbi, after a lot of messing around trying to find connections and working out what piping to use we (me and thugdout) went for the monza kit and just changed the stock intake piping a bit for the attatchment to the actual intake bit (dont know what you'd call it).
ingredients...
1x 100mm Hose Clamp
1x Monza Air intake kit
1x Packet of long zip ties
a small amount of duct tape
Method
Cut the stock intake piping with stanley knife at a suitable length to get the right downward bend.
Wrap a few layers around stock intake piping to cover corrigated part and improve the seal with the other piping as it is a few mm smaller than the monza kit.
Placed stock intake piping in the beggining of the monza kit piping (now on a downward angle, refer to pics below).
Attach Hose Clamp just below the join and tighten until tight enough (You should know when, we tightened right to the end, there should be no sliding movement really).
Run pipe down to area where you wish to mount the entry of the piping.
Use Zip ties to mount the piping so it is in the position that would gain the most amount of air and preferably so it is more discrete.
Then if you have done this without the piping being attached to intake hole then attatch now using the stock piping and clamp.

U know that if u have an accident your car will be uninsured. But very good work. Don't let the cop get a look at that, they will slap a defective sticker on your car.

you see no pod because it is a carbi
and mate i dont need to hear the ""its illegal" and the rest
it seems to accelerate better through the lower revs and runs smoother

im just sick of people like that, i dont give a **** what he has to say i would just prefer he said it elsewhere instead of cluttering up a thread
i called it a monza kit but its really an Autotechnica air intake piping from super cheap.
if you need any help with it mate add me on msn

i was actually thinking it looks much the same as TR-envys.... :bowrofl: if anything the Gaffa Tape was a bit neater then 10 foot long cable ties.

Yeah, mines been on for about 2months now, i have 2 ponds in my 1st and 6th cylinders, i think there's even a school of fish in there.......i drive around on hopes and dreams now.
I've driven through heavy misty rain on highway and my filter was barely mildly wet on one side, nothing to worry about.... is water denser than air?? no it isn't, straight through filter to bend your rods....
seriously dude, you have no experience of having such a cai, there is no way water will get in, i wouldn't want a paper filter in heavy rain though....
good work dude, i'm sick of people just instantly saying mods suck. I have duct tape on mine, simple spray paint and it looks very tidy
EDIT* just wanna say aswell not trying to be an ass but you can disagree with people in a nice way. Remember people put alot of thought into little mods like this.... Don't know if you know tr-envy personally but i dont see why he copped **** for his, looks tidy and fine to me. Personally i'm going stainless hopefully in the not too distant future, peace out spred the love etc**..

i've never seen tr-envys so i was never referring to his, but i agree with you people seem to critisize a lot more than complement these days
i have a paper filter on atm but its not raining atm and i plan on getting a new one soon

i still dont understand why you would run a cai to a hot road.. and yes ive had to rebuild motors because they have sucked in water from that intake pointing at the road

Because when the car is moving, it gets a lot more cold air from there, than the stock intake. Thats why. If you dont like it, thats your perogative, but stop kicking up a fuss over it. Because a lot of us have done the same thing, and have noticed improvements as a result.

yea yea you can see the heat comming off the road on a hot day and your also adding extra pipe to the intake which when your not moving the motor needs to suck harder to get air to the motor the cai needs to be off the road if you want to make a differance, the rules to make a motor run better is to make it breath yea you might be getting air rammed in but its going to be hot.... the ram needs to be as short as possable and up higher ....i find it funny when people come into work and there complaint is there motor is running rough. the 1st thing i look at is any stupid mods that have been done i remove them first and its normily the cause of the problem...ive got nothing againsed cai but pointing a piece of hose at the bitumin is a waist of time. the pipe your using should be at least 2 times the size ot the throttle body or carb to get a better ram effect.
