Hi all,
I just purchased a 99 TF Magna. The car is great. It has an Alpine CDM-7854E head unit for sound.
Unfortunately my father tried to put a CD in the unit. Instead of putting the CD in the slot he put the CD in the gap between the head unit and the console.
I had a look in the gap with a torch and I cannot see the CD there. I think its probably slid down the head unit and fallen behind. Would this be right?
I really don't want a CD floating around inside the console somewhere so I want to get it out. I checked the forums for removing head units but I cannot see any guide on doing so. I live in a fairly small country town and there are not any car audio places around here.
Can anyone give me advice on what to do in this situation.
Thanks
the stick on the top of the car audio section??

wow, sticking a CD between cd player and pocket...NICE ONE! HAAHHAHAH :bowrofl: :bowrofl:
how big is the freaking gap!!!
did he stick it in the top of the cd player or the bottom?
if it was on the bottom...might just get away with removing the gear shifter surround and the bottom part where the lighter is. If its on the bottom, u can pull out the coin holder to take a look to see if u can see the CD..

Hi,
I looked at the guide and I think that what I need but I want to make sure before I take it apart. Anyway he put the CD in above the head unit.
I haven't taken a console apart before but it looks fairly straight forward.

if it's a burnt cd i'd just leave it there ... not really worth the hassle of pulling it all out .... just burn it again :)

yeah, it is VERY easy...im sure someone nice from here lives somewhere around u and probably could help u out if u really wanted.
CD player angles down (face angles up) so if u drive around and brake really hard it'll probably slide off into the deep abyss of the centre console jungle of cabling.

I am in Crookwell.
The incident happened on a drive down to Batemans Bay. It was a nice drive.

Crookwell, Is that near Goulburn ??
There are a couple of places in Goulburn that may be able to assist..

Yeah its about 40kms from Goulburn.
Anyway I decided to pop open the console. I removed the housing around the gear selector and the CD was down there amongst the cables and wiring. Poped the the console back on and all is well.
Thanks
