hey, i just got a short shift/throw kit on my TR, and how does this actually work, is the replacement pole (gear stick) cut or something on both sides, because if they do that then why dont people just cut it themselvs, there must be more to this anyone know?

its the whole selector mechanism, reconditioned--> alters 2 pivot points, subsequently shorter, not because it's cut.

I'll be getting one maybe this year or january.

Where did you get it from?

I helped Dave@RPW develop the 2nd gen short shift kit as he sent me the first prototype and I told him to fix this, do that etc etc and sent it back. Then the 2nd one he sent out was phenomenal!!!(sp).

What was done to it was the pivot point of the shifter arm was effectively raised by shortening the top of the arm and lengthening the lower half. This made a massive difference in the travel moving up and down.

Then the sideways movement arm was shaped more aggressively (when I can get a digi cam I'll take some pics of it and post them up so you can see what I mean by aggressively), which made, again, a massive difference in sideways movement.

Awesome mod to do for a manual.

I'm thinking about one of these.. How much are they? I think I remember something about them being cheaper if you send RPW your old shifter back.

I'm not sure of the price as because I was helping out with the testing I was only paying the postage for the shifter.

You'd need to get on RPW's site and email Dave about it...or add him to your msn with rpwinfo@iinet.net.au I think it is.

330$ then you get 110$ back if you send them your shifter.

I emailed him about a week ago.
