I am looking at finishing off the exhaust system. At current i only have pacemaker extractors and a super cat muffler on there. What sought of price would i be looking at to have a 2.5 mandrel bent piping? And should i also get a high flow cat? Any advise would be good. Ive been hearing about these red back systems. I don't want to change my muffler so just the piping. Also i am in perth where would be a good place to purchase a system and have it fitted then and there?

I would guess about $550 for a good high flow cat and piping

I wouldn't bother with mandrel bent (a month ago I would've said mandrel is the only way). I was shown some flow charts of mandrel vs press bent...and if you want 0.5% better flow at some stupid flow rate, then go for mandrel. Otherwise its just not worth the money

I was seriously considering the custom exhaust from rpw/ian diffen. I got a rough estimated quote for the 2.5" piping might even be press and not mandrel but i heard its **** all difference anyway and a high flow cat fitted for $650. What does anyone think, or has anyone gone this path before and very satisfied. Is there a better sound too?

That would depend on your upgrade path. For minimal mods the high flow cat won't be of much benefit unles your current cat is old and / or dead. A press bent 2.5 system probably flows find for most of the rpm but the press bends will limit to an extent and possibly only flows as well as a 2.1 - 2.3 mandrel system. If you're allowing more air to enter the engine, then this probably will become an issue. The 3.0l piping could be on par with a press bent 2.5 system so it's possibly a waste of money / time.

If you're doing some decent upstream mods coupled with extractors, then you should really be after 2.5 mandrell bent piping. I think the usual price range for that could be 500 - 650 bucks including muffler and resonator and maybe 200ish for a high flow cat.

Cheers yes you seem to be on the money. Ive got it in now for a 2.5" press bent pipe with resonator. No high flow cat needed for the 3L, so be about 350 custom piping. Better than i expected.
