All

I have a remote for a 2001 Magna Executive that started going on the blink (ie working intermittently) I thought this was due to a flat battery and so replaced the battery. A Holden Mechanic friend of mine told me to reprogram a Holden Key to turn the ignition on and press the two buttons on the remote. After I replaced the battery the remote did not work at all so I tried this with the magna and it seemed to work. With the ignition on I pressed the buttons and the car beeped and the remote started to work. However after a short while it went back to being intermittent. I can place the key back into the ignition press the button again and it works for a time. I assume I am not reprogramming the key correctly. Does anyone know how to reprogram the remote or do I have to go back to Mitsubishi.

Thanks for your time

Pete

sorry mate, the forums are playing up at the moment but yeah, I cant recall easily and the forum search feature isn't working at the moment but I am pretty sure you have to turn the key backwards and forwards a few times (without starting it) from off to accessories (?) and you will see something happen (like indicator lights come on) then press one of the buttons when it does... I am not sure if you have to do the same for the boot as well.

I have not had to do it but read it here plenty of times.

Sorry, if I could find the link I would post it here... please wait a while and the forums will be fixed... or someone else will confirm the right procedure

Welcome to the forums by the way :D (they are not normally like this) ;)

l have an 02 magna and actually needed to have the remote replaced The mitsu dealer said that the contacts in the remotes can and sometimes do easily break. l went for the battery first but had the same trouble as you.
Hope it is just a reprogram prob, but if it fails u may need a new remote.
Only bonus here, mine was a warranty job

Thanks for that guys, yea I had the same headache with the search, tried a search before I posted but got errors so posted the question. This morning search worked so found the answer. Re programmed the remote this morning and worked like a charm for a while. Cracked the remote and as third poster said battery mount had come loose from the PCB one og the connectors has broken right at the board. If I push the connector onto the board I have no problems. So I guess its out with the soldering iron tonight.

Thanks again for the prompt replies
