hey ppl
i own a 92 kr v6 and just got a unichip installed. when my car was returned the guy alerted me for top end power he had to make the car rough at idle. For now the car sometimes stalls at the lights! I was just wondering does anybody else with a unichip have this problem or is it normal with piggy back systems.

i have this problem, but not "unichip" related, rather Haltech
im not quite sure what your issue could be, but mine is to do with the Haltech not being able to fully control the Butterfly idle control (mitsu OE). my solution would be to replace the Mitsu OE Idle control unit, wtih a Haltech built one.
have you taken this issue to the guy that you installed the unichip? what does he say?
Ben.

that sounds weird cause seeing as most of those ECU (either piggy back or stand-alone) work of maps, they should be able to tune the low end for normal (giving nice idle) and the high end with more power! unless the tuner in question has tried to give as much power right across the range?!?
You'ld have to ask another tuner about this i think....

rough idle is a common thing when getting ecu tweaks. After i got my unichip i noticed my idle was a tad rough (only noticeable when you sit in the car with no music or anything and just wait for it).
Im guessing your engine stalls usually when your engine is cold?
Easiest thing to do is just let your car idle for 5-10 minutes then drive off.

Booya, will you end up getting a Haltech ICU?
I thought it would be reasonable to assume that you could have had the chip tuned so that lower in the range it's tuned for optimal torque but idle is fine and the top end is set up for power.
Someone mentioned to me that when they got theirs installed the guy asked how ecconomical he'd like it tuned.

Yep, ill prolly end up getting a Haltech ICU before next winter, its quite hot here atm, so i dont think ill have serious "Cold Idle" problems
The Idle control problem is nothing to do with the Haltech "as such" its that the actuall communications doesnt allow the Haltech to control the butterfly at idle as the haltech would like, more of a Imcompatability than "tuning" issues.
Haltech ICU will correct all my idle problems.
but atm, i want Race Extractors and a twin throttle body setup
cos i wanna start graphing 200+ horses as my "everday" map
