the flexiglow ones from dicksmith are bright, probably only good for in car tho. I put 2 6" ones in my friends footwells and they light up the inside of the car at night.

Yeah ICE LEDs are the best in Undercar LEDs.
But at a big price!!! The LEDs that I have on my car come close (given the cheaper price). I think they are just as bright but slightly less patterns.
I've been happy with the brightness of mine.

The reason I like these is that I can select any colour, or get it to cycle through all the colours and it has a remote switch (like a car alarm switch on ya keys) which works from quite a distance too.

well it would also depend on the colour your after.
if you do decide to go with LEDs this is what you need too do, i guess your in a 12 volt enviroment so this will work fine.
get your LEDs and wire them in the 100 oHm resistors (4 cents each at Dick Smith stores)
here is the formula
When using a Light Emitting Diode (LED) as an indicator, use the following formula to determine series resistance for various voltages: R = (E - 1.7) x 1000/I, where R is the resistance in ohms, E is the supply voltage (DC) and I is the LED current in milliamps.
Example
to operate the LED at 20mA, for 6V, use 220 ohms
9V use 390 ohms.
12V use 560 ohms (this it the safe limit using 100 oHM reduces light but increase brightness, life is still about 3000 Hours)
24V use 1.2k ohms
as for the LEDs themselves they are avaliable in almost every colour and lighting strength up to about 22000 mcd
Green is the brightest at 20000 - 22000 mcd with red and white at 16000 and blue at 12000.
PLEASE NOTE
Any of these if stared at will blind you, just like an arc welder !!
Hope this helped

well except with the above you'd need to protect it all from the weather, make sure there wasnt any hotspots etc etc, just easier going for a kit bit tubes and a controller, and if you bought the right kit you'd also have a wireless controller, so you could manually turn them on/off from outside the car...for bragging rights if u had a good kit :D but i dont think the manual way would b the way 2 go
p.s. yeah only just saw that iceleds page the other day, i would so love the ufo kit with the wheel well things! like $1300 worth tho! but on the right car, well worth it! did you guys check out the cars on the forums?! mmm
