My 98TF just got it's 2nd new battery on sunday. How old is yours? 2+yrs is norm for a battery esp if you do short trips predominantly.

There's your answer I'd say with 99% satisfaction from the available info.
Even noticed how there's rarely any warning that they're about to die on you :doubt:

So it drives ok when flat and not ok on an incline, check your battery fluids.

i would be replacing the battury 1st, then see if its still doing it.. if it does take it to a auto elec and get him to test the alternator, could be the regulator too but get them to check that too
also with your dome light check your fuses!

if you can crank start the car then it's not a battery problem. electrical power is tapped off the alternator when the engine is running. i'd say your alternator is gone.

Double check all your fuses and especially those high current fusable links in the fusebox that is in the engine bay.
A similar member had the same problem, his first round of checks revealed nothing, upon the second check he found the buggered fusible link that he had missed on the first round.

Time to get an Optima Yellow-Top battery, that'll take a good 6 years to die.

If your car cranks then battery is fine. Thats right.
But your alternator could be dead but your car will still run fine off the battery.
When your alternator dies you know because the voltage light comes on which means the cars voltage has dropped to 12Vs.
If you dont pay attention to this then youll know when your car conks out because theirs no power left in the battery to fire the spark plugs.
So if your alternator was gone the car would still run fine, and also it def wouldnt be causing all those strange problems you mentioned... unless they wire up cars real stupidly these days.

Or you could go with Exide "Evolution' series - mines 7 years old and still holds 14.4v without a hassle - 520CCA's....she's a beast!

it definitly sounds like a battery problem exide is on of the better brands of battery although alot of batteries are all made by century and are then relabeled (the only reason i know this is because i printed the labels for them :P)

Nope check the fuses in the little yellow rectangle plactic think under the hood.. those two fuses control the boot release, dome light, ecu and Speed alarm display....
