Hey Guys

I think I may have a problem with my Idle speed motor and was wondering what the symptoms of a fault would be? - other than the obvious rough idle.... Any thoughts would be appreciated also how can the motors operation be tested?

if i remember properly, i believe there is a flat head screw "adjuster" that allows you to adjust your idle, turning this screw Clockwise (? ) will increase the RPM at idle?

i think its a screw just below the Throttle Body.
ill try find my Technical reference book.

There is s screw on the ISC, go to Madmagns, there are some pics in various sections of the tech pages.
The screw has to be turned out to adjust the idle up, in will close the air hole this lower the idle. This however is not a fix as the ecu will contanty be trying to compensate.
As for the rough idle there is a comprehensive Throttle body ceaning section again in Madmagna.

If it is your idle speed motor and after you have a quote from a mits dealer that will make you fall over, give us a yell for a price.

www.nadek.com.au does them for 275 I think, genuine mitsu.

My ISC is lazy, and the most notable fault is when its cold the car will start, but not stay started, will stall instantly

If you need to open the bypass screw too much the intake makes a stupid sucking/whistling sound on idle. It pisses me off a bit.

I know that sound, I was trying to figure out where it comes from, sounds like it comes from the connection of the snorkel to the airbox.

thanks guys, the help is much appreciated, this is the next problem to solve on my list after putting in some new front struts which i am looking forward to doing, -other than having one side of the car resprayed after my neighbour reversed into it the other day! It was actually quite reassuring as to the strength of the car, as the back of her barina was crumpled badly, whereas there is NO panel damage to my verada other than some missing paint!

ISC motors for 3.0 lt magnas, um we get them they are original mitsubishi come with 12 month warranty but have Jap part number, this shows how much Mits Aus add to the price, we seel for about the $170 mark sure beats the over 300 mits sells them for. These as I said are OEM parts not aftermarket, they are brought straight from japan,

If that was the case then it wouldn't make the sound with an exposed throttle (no AFM or snorkel). No, I do not drive around like this :)

Aftermarket or genuine, only a Mitsu dealer would say buy Genuine. I have been using the exchange ones for about $120.00 for ages and have to date had no problems and these too come with 12 month warranty. Try Bursons if you are in Vic.
