Ok, so finding out I can do a 12 months interest free payment at most places for new rms, I've decided to bump ahead the schedual a bit and want to go get rims in the next couple of weeks.
Now, what I want some opinions on, is dished wheels. As some of you already know, I've got a black verada, and i've already made up my mind that chrome is going to be where it's at. I was origionally looking at a fat 5 spoke rim, somethign pretty simple, with the spokes following right to the edge. But everywhere I go, i keep getting told that the dished rims are in, they're what all the show cars have, blah blah blah. I had a look at some, and they did look nice, but i'm in two minds about it at the moment..
What do you guys think on dished rims?

Also, the bloke at the tyre factory said I could have 19" with no problems, because you could have 17" wheels as an option when you bought the car from mitsu, does this sound right?

you can go 2inches larger than stock, so if your car came out with 17s, you can go 19s!
Any larger is illegal.
Cheers
Pete

P.S. Go dished chromies!! :D :D

Dish will make your rims look about 1 inch smaller - I've got 18" dish wheels and they look like 17" (it's because your eyes only really look as far as the end of the spokes).

Ralliart Rick has 19" chrome mesh/dish wheels on his car as of a few weeks ago - and they are awesome!!!!

It's not the size above the stock rims which the law is based on - it's 2" bigger than the largest wheel option that was available on that model car. Hence if the year your car was made - you could get a VRX with 17's from the factory, you can fit 19's without an issue.

dished all the way!! while it might make the rim look slightly smaller, it will look wider and the tyre will look fatter, which looks meaner anyway! take a look at seriyu's new rims, they're 18's with a massive dish and it improves the look 100%

These are the laws in victoria, straight out of the handbook:

The overall diameter of any replacement rim and tyre must not be:

- More than 15mm greater than the largest diameter tyre specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that model or series; or

The width of any replacement rim must not be:

+ More than 25mm greater than the widest wheel specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that model or series

black ultralites or chrome dish is the only option

dont worry about super big wheels, its not worth the trouble/cost/rough ride/worry about pinchflats and denting rims.

get 17's

Have a crash and kill someone and you are on your own. Insurance won't cover you a single cent.
Then the police gets involved and ..........

I would go the rims that go straight to the edge of the tyre as they do look alot bigger then dished rims, I seen some today on a falcon and they looked small even though they where 18s.

But really whatever you like go for it.

Any idea what was the largest diamater tyre and widest wheel specified by Mitsubishi for 1998 Magna Solara TF?

I've no idea what this tyre placard is or where it's located.

I saw a sensational black Mercedes coupe yesterday (S55 or something?), black with very wide rims on it... they were concave, chrome and just looked amazing!!

open your driver door and look at the tire placecard located on the frame of your doorsill at the back.
