 :headbanger:
Just wondering, Ive been looking for a replacement engine for my TS, the one in it isnt running and I dont have the time to strip it down etc.
I was offered a 150000Km engine with wet and dry compression tests, a good service history, apparently in good nick $1100 delivered. It will come without starter, power steer pump and alternator.
Does this sound like an Ok price?

Does it come with a written warranty? No good putting it in to find it is tired, rattly and blowing smoke! I'd be tempted to do the rounds of the wreckers to find a car with the engine in it, so you can see the mileage on the speedo and check the condition. How much is a recon motor from say Repco?

The first engine I asked about was 150000Km, and had a reasonable service history, and a 3 month warranty.
Today Ive managed got onto another one which comes from a very reputable wreckers in Brisbane. They stated that it has done 112000Km, a good service history, and has a 2 year parts and labour warranty but its $1300.
I spoke today with my friend who owns the local engine shoppe and he stated that the rebuilt engines are very costly. He indicated a price of around $2200+++ and he said that unless I was planning on keeping the car for 5+ years that he would advise against that.
