Hi guys, I just bought a 98 model Magna Advance, it has done aprox. 98,000km. I went to Ultratune to get the timing belt replaced and they said at 100,000km it would need new plugs. They said it uses platinum plugs and it would cost me $220 to have that done. Are they having a lend? I was thinking of changeing the plugs myself to save some cash. I checked up the ngk website and it recommends the PFR6G-11. Is this correct?

Not sure what type off hand. I think 6 plugs (3 platinum) cost me somewhere around $100 from Repco. It's not really that hard to change them yourself.

So the plugs are supposed to last 100,000? I used to replace my old ones aprox. every 5,000 when I changed the oil. I usually get them from Bursons... will check how much they are at repco though. Thanks guys.

BKR6E-11 for the front bank
and the three platinum PFR6G-11 for the rear bank...

So the front bank gets changed when you change the oil?

Sounds like a plan,

I am hoping it may address some rough idling, it is only minor but every 15 secs or so it gives a little shudder which has me a little concerned.

It doesnt seem to be affecting the performance at all though, acceleration is still fine.

I had it RACV tested and they gave me the Green light so if it does have any problems they will be hearing from me! :D

front between 10000km and 30000km rear at 105000km

this may sound like a noob question, but why does the rear sparkies last longer then the front? they do the same job..?

They are made with different materials which means they last longer but are more expensive ... Platinum as opposed to Copper (I think). The minimal electrode wear on the platinum one means that they will last longer.

Its because they are so hard to replace. The manifold covers the rear bank. The front bank are easy to replace yourself.
