Ok, first off, I'm not a hoon on the road, I don't drag random people - well most the time - and I generally drive at the speed limit, but from the point of going up the slightest incline in the road, i seem to loose all of my power, infact, it doesnt even need to be much of a raise in the road. What i'm finding is that my foot is flat on to the floor, yet i'm sitting at 2.5-3k rpm and going pretty well nowhere, after a few seconds, everythign kicks in and i buzz upto 5k and actually start moving. I understand that my car is heavier that my last driven car (VS Commodore) but i'm just finding that i can litterly be sittign there with my foot on the floor, and there's no go.
Anyone have any ideas what could be up?

Is it down changing gears properly.. Im assuming its auto.. id get someone to check that as there is a miner adjustment and if thats good prob time for a service on the old tranny.. Those mits tranys like fresh oil and play silly buggers when oil is old.. :D

Maybe your auto box isn't kicking back straight away. Does it feel like it changes down a gear or two when it finally gets moving?

You'd be suprised, had a mate who took his car for the auto transmission service, and came back home with a gearbox that wouldn't change gears.

How steep is the incline anyway? I normally can stay in 5th gear going up a hill without loosing speed, thats what I love about torquey V6's (and anything bigger :D )

Who did the service for you? They may have used the wrong auto transmission fluid as the magna vehicles require a specific fluid, not a universal fluid.

I woudl check tha cause if the problem has only started since the last service, good possibility there.

It was done at my local mitsubishi dealer. You'd think they know what they're doing? lol

Righty, I am normally against doing this (as some people think it is the answer to everything) but have you tried disconnecting your battery long enough to reset the puter and see if it changes this trend?

In regards to the trans fluid, and I know this has been discussed a number of times but Mitsiman, are you saying the tri-diamond trans fluid is the only fluid these units should take? If so, that not only sounds unreasonable but stupid (only stupid that this would be the case)

My replacement transaxle is not performing right and I was wondering if it was something stupid like that given I very much doubt the 'right' fluid would have been used.

I dont think it's the case that "if it didn't come out of a bottle with the mitsubishi logo, then it's the wrong fluid...". I'm sure mitsubishi don't manufacture it themselves, so the same stuff must be available from other brands. I think the issue is that the magna auto's aren't compatible with the dexronIII type of automatic transmission fliud - which seems to be the fluid of choice for most model vehicles.

It should just be a matter of finding out which 'type' of fluid the magna auto requires and then specifying that when you book your magna in for a trans service somewhere other than a dealership....... or pick up a bottle from supercheap and take it down with the car if you don't trust a mechanic to get it right on his own.

Get someone to check/replace your throtle positioning switch.... thats what tells the auto how hard you are accelerating and whether or not to kick back. just a thought :)
