I was thinking of putting a K & N air filter on my magna. But then i herd if you only had that on your car it would run lean and wreck the engine. Is this true?

Doubt it. I've got a K&N panel and my dyno runs didn't indicate any change of air - fuel mix. The ECU would modify the amount of fuel added when there's an increase in air mass.

No problem running a K&N panel filter at all
If you're referring to a Pod, then there might be some truth to that. A circular pod can confuse the MAS sensor and therefore cause it to misread which can either make it run lean or rich. You need a MAS specific pod (oval) and for the best performance, you'd want to hook it up to some cold air induction.

Actually, I've tried the apexi filter before with an adaptor and I had no idling problems in the car whatsoever... 8)
