how much would the motor to the fan for the aircon in your car cost and replaced?

my one died about week ago if the aircon is still on it still gets cold just no fan blowing it out i used to have just the 3rd speed going now its all gone would anyone know where to get this fixed asap coz it gets bloody hot these days.

When you say you used to have 3rd speed and now nuttin that sounds more like the speed control resistors, not the fan.

Right next to the fan in the ducting shoud be an electrical plug. That should be connected to the resistor pack and should just unscrew and come out. It should have 2 or 3 coils of wire on it. If they're broken replace the unit. This is just from general experience and I'm assuming the newer magnas are the same as most cars, someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Also as TC said, check the fuse, as even when the pack has gone they usually still work on full speed. :)

Bit off topic but twice I have been driving from prolonged periods on really hot days and I had my air con on top speed, blasting away. Initially it was working fine but later on, say 1-2 hrs later running at top speed, the fan speed automatically lowered and the air con was not as cool. I then turned it down, thinking that the fans getting a little tired. The next day when I had to drive again, it was back to normal. Anybody else had this and is it just heat getting too much for the fan/air con?

You may find you evaporater is freezing up restricting the air flow.
It can happen if the condensation drain is blocked or if your just pushing the A/C too hard in a humid environment. Try running it on a slightly lower speed or if it has to run flat out to get cold get the gas level checked. :D

If you suspect this is happening, turn the a/c off, but leave the fan on. If this is the problem, after a while the fan should progressively return to blowing normally as the ice melts. If that's the case, pay a visit to your local car a/c workshop and tell them and they should be able to adjust your thermostat so it doesn't get to the point where it freezes. I used to have this problem on my VL calais, I used to get a mist coming out the vents just as the fan was "slowing down", but then again it's always very humid here.

I have tj with climate control. the one with the lcd screen.
My air con fan turns on straight away when i start my car. I havent even turned on the air con system. Do you know if this type of air con fan contains the resistor pack?

Is there somewhere else i can look to dignosis this fault.

Also you say the external fan on the air con condensor should turn on when the aircon system turns on.
Even if my air con is the external condensor fan dosent spin.

Any ideas would help.

Thanks advance for your help.

Have you had a chance to look at this yet cause Ol'Fart is spot on I reckon.

No it doesn't have a resistor pack it uses transistors. more speed settings.
The fan is controlled by your Aircon ECU so it may not be that simple.
Check with others on the forum to see if their fan comes on, if it is automatic climate control then it would also depend on what you have it set at as to what it wants to do when you start the car.

yep it is your fan speed controller.. thats if 3rd was going and not anymore.. sits under dash in the vent with a plug in it.. try wreckers.. pretty cheap..:)
