Here's (http://members.iinet.net.au/~allenc/TechTips/firewall.html) a page showing one way to do it on a TJ, but I have absolutely no idea about a TR sorry.

I do have a pic of this..I'll find it asap.

FYI, I'm running 4 guage thru the grommet plus alarm wires so there is enough room.

If you have an auto trans:

I drilled a 3/4" hole just above where the clutch pedal blanking plate is. You will see where I'm referring to when you stick your eyeballs under there because it's a single layer metal area of the firewall, whereas it's double wall reinforced around the steering column boot.

Remember check 3 times, but drill once =) Use a measuring tape on both sides of the firewall to be sure instead of guessing. Get a mate to spot on the engine bay side as a final precaution. You may find removing the driver's seat gives you essential working space, especially if you use a double handle hammer drill like I did :o

There's the grommet :D

It comes out behind the pedals in the drivers side

aahh that's where i put my wire too, i think it's speedoometer cable, yup just push the rubber out and you can make a hole on it...

that;s the mistake i did !
destroy 3 drill bits which were quite expensive as well!
but the job is done and all sweet!!!

remember to either silicone it or us a real tight grommet, coz u dont want it to move and get engine noise in the car!

mine was whistling, had a loose grommet!!!

if you look at the link for the TJ - in the TR there is a similar grommet - i ran wires through the car of Resserector.

The best way to do it personally i have found is to get the wire - attach it to the end of a screw driver - philips is best - with sparky tape or something - and gently push it through the grommet - it will make a hole for itself and get through - if you would like a hand i can cruise around some time and do it - or you can drop by and we can shove it through - takes no time at all!!
