How do you activate the high beams on a third gen.

I know you can pull them towards you, but you have to hold it there, and you can't do that and drive. and it doesnt seem to want to go and click in the opposote way as it would with most other cars. I hope it's not foot operated like a HQ.

and the car manual just mentions pulling it towards yourself and that's all

Is this for real? Or sarcasm? Coz that should be in the members section.

You pull it towards you a little, and high beam comes on, but doesn;t lock. If you pull it further, it will click and stay on. Then just pull it again, and it will turn off when it clicks.

If its not clicking on and staying on, maybe its broken.

Sounds like it's not clicking on.

You should hear a "click" as it turns on and stays on when you pull the stork toward you.

I was for real, in most cars that i've driven you pull it towards yourself to flash someone/something and push it the opposite way to lock it in, i didnt realise it's like a 2 stage thing where you can flash, then pull again to click it in

It doesnt lock if you do not turn on the head lights. lol
ensure your normal head lights are on then pull back to hear the click. otherwise without turning on the lights, you are just flashing people with high beam on and off by holding on to it and letting go. And if it doesnt lock, have it checked.

cheers!

Tell me about it! In the 6 months I've had the wagon I've only used hi beam once, and discovered they are crap. Seems some poeple have forgotten what the little blue warning light means as well, judgeing by the number of cars with their hi beams on during the day. Almost makes me want to stick some 100w blue globes in my Cibies and stick 'em on the car, people tend to notice when I flash them.

It just shows that no question is really that stupid. Its better to ask than stay in the dark forever not knowing how things work. Everyone learn something from each one here in the club, and by this we know how to help others here who encounter the same problems.

Cheers guys. I am leaving Australia in 3 hours time for holiday to Singapore.
Will keep up with you guys here in the threads.

When in doubt, is always better to ask.

Cool.....

Continuing on the silly questions...

Just say, there is light drizzle and I just want the windscreen wipers to wipe once and stop without spraying the washer fluid, how would I do that??

I read the manual and it says pull the stork back towards you...I do that and it sprays the washer fluid, which I dont want it to do, I just want it to wipe, if there is light drizzle or its sprinkling....

*And yes this is a GENUINE question*

Flame away!
lol But I would also want the answer to this silly question as well! Balance out the flaming and answer giving please? lol

Couldnt you just use the wiper without pushing it back and just clicking it down like on normal rainy days and click it back after one wipe? That should solve it.

Oh ahy am I still here? lol

Thanks for the replies guys, i figured it out, you just pull it towards you, and then pull it towards you again to turn the off seems stupid to me but hey there ya go. And i think it's crap having the boot release in the glovebox. should be next to the fuel door lever thingy

The same thing drives me nuts. . . . . there is nothing worse than having some one in the pasenger seat and having to reach over their lap to gat to the dam release!!!!!!!!
( well all depends on who it is ;)
surely they could have mounted it on the dash or some thing. . . . .

Is that the only way?
Oh wells, I guess I can live with that, I guess.....

What's wrong with the button on the remote ;)well if its not you that needs to get to the boot but a passenger you end up having to turn the car off pull the key out of the ignition and then push the silly button, seems like its alot more trouble than it should be. . .;)

This tops the stupid questions!!!!

I lent my car to my brother and I got a phone call about three hours later,

Hey sis I have a problem,

of cause I thought he had an accident then the words come out,

I cant turn the key, I have tried everything and I cant get them to turn, I think I broke it

Couldn’t think of what it was off the top of my head so I asked him where he was and

drove all the way down to tweed heads from Brisbane,

when I get there I knew straight away what it was,

He had gotten out of the car and locked the steering wheel in and he was trying to turn

the key without jiggling the steering wheel, I nearly wet my self laughing and then nearly

killed him for being so stupid.

Ahh... I see.. That annoys me too... How the car has to be off or on acc for the button to work  lol

Otherwise, as said before... depends on the passenger lol

She calls me up saying her car wont start.. it wont even kick over.
I drove all the way to her house, i had a look and just laughed...it was in drive :bowrofl:

I can understand the confusion about knowing how the stalk operates, especially when you're trying to learn in the dark.

You could learn a lot from the old H series Holden's (well, maybe not the HQ). My father's Statesman had headlight controls like the TL/TW Magna. It also had a boot release button in the glovebox.
