This is only going to be a quick reply, but....

From your descriptions... the abbreviations on your head unit wires are:

blue wire (Ant Rem) = power antenna remote wire... if you have a power antenna, then this connects to it to make it go up and down when the head unit turns on and off.

blue wire with white stripe (Amp Rem) = Amplifier remote wire... if you have an external amplifier then this connects up to the amp to tell it to turn on when the head unit turns on.

Aqua (Att) = attenuation (mute) most likely for when you have a mobile phone hands free kit that has a mute capability, can hook up to this so that when your phone rings, the stereo mutes.

as for the rest.... seriously duck down to Dick Smith / Tandy / (Its a sunday so try bunnings) and get yourself a multimeter for $20... its the handiest little tool you can have. Then you can easily work out which wires in the magna have power when you turn the key to accessories and when you turn your lights on etc and match them up with what your installation manual tells you is the correct wires on your head unit.

thanks for that....

ok i've managed to illiminate some wires....
so now it comes down to the factory:

-green with white stripe wire
-black with yellow stripe
-black with red stripe

for the sony HU:

i found out that the orange with white stripes was for the "illimination"..."dimmer" option. (is that correct??)

gray with black stripes i know is for the Right Front Speaker (-) but dont know which wire to connect.

the easiest way would be to buy a wire harness for a sony HU for a mitsubishi car from jb hi-fi or similar.
but if u insist on the colour coding then head to

http://www.carstereohelp.com/

hope this helps

The wire colors on your stock wiring harness are not going to match up with your Sony harness. The general consensus among aftermarket wiring colors is they are often uniform e.g. Sony to Panasonic to JVC, but OEM car manufacturer wiring codes always differ from each other. Get your hands on a multimeter and then come back and I'll let you know how to figure out the wires through process of elimination.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!

I installed the Sony HU!!!

Its been all good!! no short circuits, or surges..... Lights all work....
I'm pretty happy considering this is the first time i've every done somthing like this...

There were a few wires that i left out but it hasnt affected anything ...yet...
the only major problem i had was those F&#@ing screws that kept dropping down and between gaps that was impossible for me to get at!!

anyways thanks to all that helped!!
honestly couldnt have done it without this forum!!
BLODDY WELL DONE!!! :D

No worries, glad you got it worked out.

I think this is definitely one for the FAQ section if it happens.
